So where to start. When we came to the restaurant to order our food for a takeaway we asked for a menu, the lady said she doesn’t have any and that we need to check the menu on Deliveroo which was weird but we picked our meals- I had chicken kung pao and my partner had chicken chow meow. When we’re paying we asked for a price and the lady used the price list from Deliveroo which is absolutely unacceptable as we didn’t use the app and we all know the prices are always higher on these kind of apps. We paid over £20. Our food was ready within 10 minutes which was amazing. My chicken kung pao was just bowl full weird taste liquid with chicken which was not clean I was more eating tendons than meat and no rice which was my fault as I didn’t order but when you’re ordering this kind of meal for that price you expect rice with it, my partner’s chew meow was hideous - it tasted like a burnt nothing wasn’t nice at all and his chicken was full of tendons as well. Also the vegetables were not washed properly so he was crunching a dirt. Overall we both didn’t eat even 1/4 of each food how bad it was ( we left it out for the foxes). Please don’t go to this place 0/10. We highly recommend place which is 1 minutes away called fish&chips which is a bit confusing but it’s Chinese takeaway- a few days ago we ordered from there and it was absolutely stunning and we paid for massive portions of yummy food £10 and wanted to do the same today unfortunately they’re closed so we gave chance to this restaurant,...
Read moreI really really wanted to like this place as I've been experimenting with Korean food in the kitchen so I know exactly what to expect. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the tteokbokki (the first photo), the rice cakes weren't cooked properly, the dish had a mix of artificial fish - (crab sticks and fish cakes) it did have a few squids and prawns which was nice, the noodles were fine, the sauce was as expected and the egg.. Well I can barely eat s freshly boiled egg let alone an egg that was made hours ago 😫. I'd rate it 4/10, I did also find a hair in my food which made me feel sick, they did make me another dish but by then I had lost my appetite. I know that can happen anywhere, but with a hygiene rating of 5 then I expect nets on hair please! . . The fried calamari and fried prawns were lovely! They had lots of different sauces to pick from. They were also serving their famous fried chicken that they got so famous for (I didn't try it but apparently It was nice), the egg fried rice was nice and while the rice portion was big it would be nicer if the prawns, chicken and calamari came in big portions too. The tteokbokki was a good portion but other than that I wasn't impressed as I read reviews about big portion sizes but I was sitting there wondering whether I was a pig or the reviewers are genuinely not big eaters? . Prices were decent, not expensive at all. . Overall the place gets 3/5, sorry but it wasn't for...
Read moreI’ll preface this by saying, I don’t even write reviews. Ever. However, this was worth the exception.
I was traveling on holiday from New York to London. So, not to sound pretentious, but NYC is a Mecca when it comes to good Thai. We have authentic northern style Thai, and also the more Americanized versions. I’ve had some of the best Thai from best the city has to offer. I say all that to say, Makimayo legitimately has the Pad Thai I’ve ever had. Hands down. Is it the traditional pad Thai im sure you’ve come to know and love? No. However, the sauce mixed with the noodles? Incredible. This seems like it is owned by a sweet older lady, so that also adds to their rating. She did not hesitate to continuously refill my glass of water, and she always asked if the food was good or if I need anything else. The food was delicious yes, but the service was above and beyond. Plus the portions were huge, as you can tell by my plate. Also, the chicken kaarage? Piping hot and crispy. Really big chunks of well seasoned dark meat. Another fantastic dish here.
If you’re ever in the area or even want to get some great Asian food before you go? Take a trip here. I did, twice, within my week’s stay.
TL;DR: get...
