Omg !!!!!!! This should be minus stars , I have eaten savaoy’s all my life I used this fish and chip shop all the time , till it changed hands now it needs to be avoided at all cost the savaloys are dry hard brown meat that looked like it had been waiting to be sold for over a month plus I was going to send a sample to health and safety for it to be checked once I cut into it I wanted to be sick I have never had a savaloy and the colour of the meat was darker than kebab meat with white pieces of what looked like gristle I don’t know where they are getting these but avoid going there the chips were nasty dried up old looking ends . Seems to me they are concentrating on the Chinese menu and forgetting they run both I wouldn’t eat anything from here I took it back to them and demanded my money back out of principle the lady was breaking open savaloy after savaloy saying no this is how you eat them ?????? NO this is not the colour of meat at all I wouldn’t serve it to a dog let alone human. She just kept saying I do not understand the old owners food was beautiful what a shame all I can say is avoid at all costs I don’t post reviews but after reading on here regarding the savaloys I felt I had to warn people ...
Read morewe buy fish and chips from Marks which has always been excellent, so for the first time we tried the chinese - so WITHOUT PREDUJDICE - I am sorry to say that we did not enjoy it, we found it to be bland, very little spice, lacking the chinese flavours one would expect. The spare ribs, black bean sauce and honey and chilli - although tender did not have honey or any chilli, they were not sweet, and black bean sauce did not taste of black bean. The chicken in the chow mein was perculiar in texture - most probably due to bashing it which is not needed in my opinion- chicken tastes better when drier and sliced or cubed. The spring rolls not taste at all. The whole meal seem to contain high amounts of salt, so much so, I needed copious amounts of water afterwards which is an unusual thing, even getting up in the middle of the night to drink a large tumbler of water, I can only think it must be high salt content which may me very thirsty. I feel I need to bring it to Mark's...

Haven't been to the fish & chips shop for ages as I had moved away but recently returned and my ĺast experience was good but not on this occasion. My negative review is due the counter lady trying to charge me more than the display board prices - in my view overcharging! I ordered my meal, waited for it to be cooked and then she tried to charge me more than the prices displayed. She informed me they had a price rise (pointing at a small typed note on the sneeze screen) and therefore the prices on the big display board and leaflets on the counter were wrong. I asked why the display prices had not been changed or at least the prices covered up to reduce the potential for confusion? No response! I asked for the manager - told he was Jason but not on duty, Asked for his surname - employee didn't know it - very strange. With other fish & chip shops locally - will not be returning due to their attitude for displaying...
