Went to the Morden Brook one lovely warm evening after work. Ordered drinks and food at the bar for the four of us. Got drinks right away but had to wait absolute ages for the food even though the pub was not that busy. There were a few tables outside with people and hardly any people inside because of the gorgeous weather so I couldn't understand what took the kitchen so long. We waited 45 minutes for our food. When the food arrived it was well cooked and everyone enjoyed it. Nothing great but not at all bad either, just decent pub food that you have to wait the best part of an hour for. Later my daughter wanted a dessert so I thought I'd risk it and order her a chocolate brownie, how long could they take to make that?? Surely the brownies are pre made, just unpack, pop in the microwave for a few seconds, dollop some cream and send it out. No! That would be too easy. We waited 35 minutes for the brownie after going to ask bar staff where it was twice. If you're going for drinks alone, you'll be fine, just don't order food if you've got anywhere to be. Won't ever go back for a meal, for drinks yes, it's a pub after all, you know what you get but to go for a meal and have to wait that long. There are too many other options these days to waste your time and money on...
Read moreThis is the most local public house to my home. I'm not a great pub drinker probably go to this one 2-3 times a year . But this time was just horrid. Wednesday 10th April 2024 at aprox 5pm . We had come from a very emotional funeral and wake, a group of about 12 all dressed in black so very obvious where we had been .
The vile woman who served us, Mousy brown hair scraped back in to a ponytail was beyond rude. She then proceded to ignore a polite request from the next customer . When I asked for a clean glass she ignored me ,so I had to ask another member of staff. As they handed me the class I asked " is she always this rude?" under his breath so she would not hear they simply said "yes" obviously totally embarrassed, or possibly afraid.
About an hour in to our visit she came over to the table next to us throwing a teatowel over her shoulder ,obviously talking yo regulars ,she proceded to tell story's of customers who were, I quote "total cxxts" , to quote another one of her sentences " and I told them ,I did that they could take it or Fxxxing leave" .
Let's just say I won't...
Read moreMe and my friends, walked into the pub with the desire to have enjoying evening there having meals and drinks. We sat in the garden and we were aproached by a woman (later on realised that were the manager),she was very rude saying that we have to order via app, however they were tables around which have been served by other waitreses. We agreed and done all she said. 50 min later i asked nicely how long will take because my friends were alreadyvery hungry. She raised her voice saying to me that if i cant see she has full pub and its not an hour the time we have been waiting. Very rude attitute, not appropriate for a manager!!!! She didnt come anymore to see if we need someting or give us quick update how long will take. Vida the waiters who came to us after an hour luckly was very nice and tryed to fix all of it, appologizing 100 times for her manager behaviour. Im not even saying they were not cuttlery or sauces. This is unexeptable and will not come back ever. Shame because of the location and nice garden, we want to support our local pubs, but what...
