I booked a table for 12 a week in advance we were excited to go here after reading the reviews ,were trying a different Indian restaurant every month as a big group, we won't be going back to this one .
It was 20 mins from.when we got in there before our drinks even came , we were the only people.in the restaurants at the time.No table cloths a bit unhygienic if you ask me.
When the starters came they were generally ok me and my brother had the Naga kebab , Naga being the 3rd hottest chilli in the world we were expecting it to be hotter as we both thrive on super hot stuff, bit it generally tasted nice and was well presented. You couldn't swing a rat let alone a cat in the toilets they smelt and needed redecorating.
But check this out my boss was half way through his Shami kebab when he found a huge lump of.plastic YES PLASTIC IN HIS FOOD, the waiter tried to pass it off as onion but we're not stupid ,it was probably half the size of a £5 note squared ,they took it away no apologies nothing ,then 20 mins later came it with a replacement dish ,really we should of left there and then.
The mains came out they were generally ok nothing special,I've paid half the price for twice as good food in other Indian restaurants, the portions were huge not necessarily a good thing, they should give you a 3rd less and spent more time and effort on service, quality and presentation. My brother had the Naga lamb as the main he said it had no heat whatsoever and tasted bland, The bill came hand written in this day and age all the dishes and drinks should be on the till and printed properly so there's no mistakes queries,
There was only 2 people apart from.us In the restaurant the whole time we were in there, it was the hottest day of the year mind.
I dont think the restaurant will be there another year
Just for the record It takes a bad experience for me to write a review like this ,I never complain or moan ,I just don't go back to a place no more.
After reading all the good reviews this restaurant has I've come to the conclusion that most people that have written these reviews dont visit different Indian...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious! Tonight my fiancé and I treated ourselves to a dinner out and decided on Mustard. Our food was delicious, piping hot and served in good timing. My fiancé ordered chicken biriyani and a Bombay aloo side. I ordered the lamb kashmir raj, pilau rice and sag paneer. All dishes were delicious and did not disappoint. My lamb curry was very hot and made me cry (how I like it lol!) and my fiancé said his biriyani was one of the best he has tried. Both curries had a lot of meat, which was very tender and tasty. My sag paneer was creamy and full of paneer cheese. Rice dishes were very light, fluffy and fresh.
The atmosphere was perfect, we were there at 630pm on a Saturday evening and it was a good amount of people to create an atmosphere. We also must note that we like that Mustard offer the option of coke/lemonade as a pint, as most places only offer the tiny glass bottles at high prices. This is a USP Mustard has over other Indian restaurants!
We were also really pleased to see the 5/5 hygiene rating too and the restaurant eating area was indeed very clean and inviting. All staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming too.
We originally was going to order online but chose to treat ourselves to eating in. After looking through the website and after deciding to eat in, on our way to Hornchurch I had a couple of phone calls from Runa, followed by a text saying if we were having any issues to let her know. We feel this was very attentive and helpful, welcoming and appreciative of new customers.
We cannot fault our visit and will be returning, thank you all for giving us a...
Read moreWe have been to this restaurant a few times over the past year or two, and it has not been a bad experience. However our visit this week was very disappointing. We booked using a tastecard but ended up going for the banquet night menu as it seemed more appropriate for what we were planning to eat. The waitress was initially very friendly and chatty, offering us more drinks when our glasses were low. Her attitude seemed to change when we didn't have yet another round of drinks and then asked if it was possible to have a plastic container to take the excess food home as there was some food left over. "There is a 50p charge for containers," she snarled. We were shocked considering we had just consumed over £60 of food and drink between us but accepted it as we didn't want to argue. When we received the bill, there were £7 of unexplained "extras." Then, to top off the terrible service, we were informed that as we had the banquet menu, we were only allowed to pay by cash. There was no mention of this before or upon ordering. My friend embarrassingly had to leave the restaurant and go to the local cashpoint as he didn't have enough money to pay his half of the bill and I didn't have enough money to pay for us both. After paying and upon leaving, the service was cold and unfriendly considering the amount we had just spent. We have now vowed never to return, which is a shame as the food was good. The service and overcharging were...
