I Went to the topcafe for some breakfast this morning, found the staff to be rude and incompetent, ordered a kids meal and 2 set 1 with mushrooms instead of beans. She brought the coffee, tea toast that comes with the set meals but not the correct order we thought people make mistakes so repeated back to her that we ordered 2 set 1 with mushrooms instead of beans next thing the order comes back wrong again then she started saying it was our mistake and that we never ordered what we were saying then disrespected my husband in front of our young son so we payed for our drinks and kids breakfast and will not be returning. Working in customer service which I actually teach for 18 years and I would get rid/or give a written warning to people that were rude to customers ( The customer is always right) but customer service and staff arguing with customers is not going to get you custom. I have been a Hornchurch resident for a long long time and we will never be going back to that cafe and we will be sharing our experience with friends and family. @ tomwilliams thank you for your review but I think we both know you have never seen me before and to say that you heard my conversations with the waitress in question is just a lie (unless you have magic powers) Also calling someone vile and trying to put down my husbands character also shows what kind of person you are. The waitress was told the correct order from the start and the way she spoke to us was not pleasant and to be honest just rude my husband only said don’t worry we will pay for what we have had and waited outside and my son was on his iPad with earphones on so just knew that his breakfast was now a takeaway. Read morei don't usually write reviews but I was in this cafe today sitting across from a woman, man and child and the behaviour of these customers has compelled me to write a correction to a review that has been placed here. @ Emma Bailey I don't think it's fair on you to slander a local business and threaten to leave bad reviews (at the top of your voice) when your behaviour today was inappropriate. I recognise you as I have eaten in this cafe every week since it opened and have seen this woman in here regularly (which is odd given your review) and each time you are rude to staff.
I personally think people that are rude to waiters have underlining issues within themselves. I was there when you came in today and was there afterwards. You ordered without your husband and the waitress read the order back to you. You then said that the order was wrong when it was brought over to you, which they checked and corrected, for you to then decide you ordered something completely different that doesn't even sound the same. You were rude and as for your husband the way he spoke to the young girls in there is shocking - As though he wanted to fight them! I cannot believe you work in customer services as your behaviour was vile today and in front of your young son is shocking. I'm a Hornchurch resident and dine with my family and hope I never have to sit and eat in the same room as you (especially your husband) in any local eatery.

I had an issue with the breakfast as I had to remove about 50ml of greasy liquid from the plate as my food was literally drowning below 3mm of liquid. It took 4 serviettes soaked 100% through to absorb the liquid. When I spoke to the manager I got no apology or any offer to correct the issue just an excuse about it being mushroom juice. When I expressed my dissatisfaction he just argued with me and did nothing about my complaint. I was offered no discount and left thinking "I will never use that place again!" I've just taken the time to read some other reviews of this site and I'm absolutely shocked by the published responses from the manager. He accepts no responsibility and argues about every complaint. This guy is not over defensive he is absolutely ignorant of the concept that is customer service. This is the worst example of management lacking customer service skills I have ever witnessed and I plan on using this place as a case study example when training staff on customer service. Thank you for providing a perfect example of how not to deal with customer complaints. Just so you know I'm not an ignorant idiot I have 30+ years experience as a chef to executive head chef level.
