I live local to this place (Walking distance) and regularly attend the park and woodlands. I have been to this place on two occasions and will never be using the facilities of this place again for the reasons outlined below.
First Visit:
Upon my first visit I attended with my partner, child and a dog I was looking after. Whilst this place is situated right in a place where people predominantly attend to walk there dog. There are no facilities aimed at dog walkers / being dog friendly. Whilst I understand dogs aren't everyone's favourite you would think a place located where it is would have a pet friendly area.
Due to the fact this wasn't the case I was forced to tie the dog up to the outside railing and pick one of the picnic benches on the other side of the railing so that the dog felt close to us and we could keep an eye on him. The weather was overcast and quite cool at the time.
When I went inside and purchased the food, it became apparent that the menu was pretty basic (not a huge deal as I wasn't expecting much) . A fried breakfast / toast / sandwich / baguette / chips etc.
Due to the fact we was forced to sit outside the food went from warm (not hot) to cold quite quickly. The food quality was edible but not great. However we thought we would give it another go just to give the place the benefit of the doubt.
Second Trip: The second trip was very much similar to the first however this time I was in attendance with my own dog who at the time was a six month old puppy. As before I chose a picnic table close to the railings so we could sit with the dog. I moved the table a few inches closer just to make the dog more at ease and to. Observe him. This time the weather was hot (28°c roughly) and in the later part of the morning.
Being concerned for the dog I had provided him a big bowl of water, however once again there are no amenities aimed at dog walkers and as such there was no shade for the dog. Due to the fact the picnic area was littered with empty tables. I picked a small metal table up and placed it on the other side of the fence (against the fence so as not to obstruct anyone) but to offer some shade for the dog from the relentless sun as he has a thick fur coat. I went and ordered some food again and came back out.
Within two minutes a lady from the cafe came out and made a point of going outside to take the table away from the dog and put it back in the park. When I apologised and politely explained I had placed it there for the reasons stated above and would put it back when finished. I was told that I shouldn't move tables as its preventing other people from using the facilities and preventing custom.... When I looked round and saw five empty tables I explained that there was ample space for others and should the space be filled I'd gladly put the table back to give more space... This was not acceptable and the lady proceeded to clear the other empty tables.
Our food then came out and was once again lukewarm, rather greasy and distinctly average to poor. The all day breakfast price had gone up due to the fact it had gone past a certain time in the day which the lady on the till was keen to keep reminding me.
All in all.... I won't be using this place again out of principle.
The lady was so cruel, rude, and anal over a table that wasn't even being used that it's not worth my custom. The food wasn't cheap and isn't worth the price. The toilets were unclean and the facilities are poor. The whole place could do with a revamp.
In short:
Choice of food: 2.5 / 5 Quality of food: 2. Amenities: 1 / 5 Customer Service and helpfulness : 0 / 5 Location: 5 / 5 Cleanliness: 2 /5 (it was probably cleaner where my...
Read moreWe come here all the time, today was a massive disappointment. We came here with my partner and two children, all of our food was over cooked, chips was rock hard and the kids didn't/couldn't eat them. We had chicken kebab and chicken was over cooked and dry and again the pitabread was really hard and chewy, chips was again rock solid. Not sure if they're left overs just over cooked.
Biggest thing was I found a eye lash/small hair in my sons food, I left it. Next minute under my salad I found a hair. Which made my other half look at nearly eaten plate and he found a small one on edge of pita bread. In which I asked my partner to say something, we went to speak to the boy In there he brought the lady over (which I think was doing the cooking that day) she quickly got up from her chair, confront us with a "what's the matter" rude. We wasn't even given 5 seconds to explain before she just replied "do u what your money back or what another one" and just walked of mumbling stuff under her breath (in which we heard her, but couldn't make out what she said) and came back with £16. When we spent about £40 on food and drinks.
Absolutely disgusting manners to treat the local customers like that. No hair nets or gloves or anything worn. We won't be coming back and it's a shame as we love coming here , normally there's a older person there cooking (maybe the owner) but today they've lost regular returning customers. Run today by a bunch of youngsters with no manners to...
Read moreLovely male member of staff making effort to talk to the children and lovely lady serving behind till BUT one miserable cow needs to be sacked. First comes demanding my nephew moves his chair (hadn't moved from the position it was placed when we arrived) No manners whatsoever then starts moving the buggies around which would be fine had she explained why and turning mine around but in exactly the same place made no difference whatsoever (bear in mind 2 buggies we had weren't blocking anyone). To top it off we leave and head to take the children to the loo she comes out and says you were sitting there weren't you we say yes and she replies why did you not tell me you had broken the table leg. A) we didn't break anything and B) had we noticed the table leg broken we would have gone to an approachable member of staff and said so. If looks could kill she would have killed me in an instant I did confront her and say we didn't know the table leg was broken and how dare she give that look to us. Pure rudeness and appalling customer service skills clearly needs to learn how to be polite. Totally put...
