From the moment you step into Parrillan Coal Drops Yard, you're transported into a culinary paradise. The Iberico ham is a revelation, with its rich flavors and melt-in-your-mouth texture, it's a dish that elevates simplicity to an art form. The shrimps, or gambas, are another highlight. Grilling them yourself on the Parrillan brings a delightful interactive twist to the meal, enhancing the flavors and making the experience uniquely yours. But the pièce de résistance has to be the steak. Cooked on the grill to your perfect liking, every bite is a juicy, flavorsome nod to the quality of produce and the joy of outdoor grilling.
What makes Parrillan stand out, apart from its innovative dining concept, is the impeccable service. The staff are not just attentive; they're passionate about what they do, eager to share their knowledge and ensure you make the most of your Parrillan experience. Read moreokay food with terrible service. unorganised staff and poor management. (I would have given it 2 stars if it wasn't for the starters who were excellent). We went for a Sunday brunch with 4 friends. the good things first: we were impressed with the outdoor seating (which is the only thing they do because of their concept of open BBQs at the table) and the starters were great. Now for the bad: we ordered our food around 2:45 (after multiple attempts to get a waiters attention). Shortly after a BBQ grill was placed on our table (you basically cook/grill our food on the table), which stood there for over 20 minutes without anything happening. When asking the waiter when our food would arrive he said "very soon"... another 15 minutes later, still nothing. so I went to ask the manager who said we were next and the food would arrive "very soon".. which still took another 10+ minutes. so in total we waited over 45 minutes for food to arrive (starters excluded). How hard can it be to bring out slices of raw meat and seafood that you still have to cook? Table service overall was very slow and erratic: waiters were buzzing around everywhere but didn't seem to have a system who serves which areas, which not only led to long waits to order and get your drinks, but also resulted in getting drinks we didn't order or different waiters asking if we wanted to place an order even though we already did, which was very disruptive to our conversations. One more thing that struck us as odd: early on we asked one of the waiters for his name which we generally do as a matter of courtesy and were told that they are "not allowed to share their names"... ?? The only time when service was fast was when we asked for the bill (no surprise, really!). Spending nearly £400 in a restaurant in London I have certain expectations of the service and the quality the overall experience, none of...
Read moreI'm not in London often but this really is what I'd describe as the pinnacle of that unfriendly trope that many people refer to when visiting this city.
Upon a rather frosty reception we were seated on the periphery of the roof terrace which is really nice to be fair but this was sadly the only highlight of the whole affair.
The slightly embarrassing ordeal had only just begun.
We only wanted a quick coffee and thank goodness it was because the frosty atmosphere was enough to make any hot drink, absolutely clap cold.
The waiter who seated us was now been given a less than discreet dressing down on the shop floor of which we heard everything... Must have been intentional as it was so obvious.
The issue that we overheard was that we shouldn't have been seated if we were only having coffees. Firstly how bizarre is this? Secondly was this manager an absolute melt.
The coffee came, it was fine nowt special. Definetly not on par with what I presume its trying to achieve.
After the coffees came another member of staff kept glaring over at the table and then finally approached to tell us that they needed the table back by 6:30pm. It was now 5.
I laughingly turned to the waiter and said get out of here, you came to tell us we have nearly 2 hours to have a coffee.
What sort of mickey mouse BS was this 10p millionaire outfit trying to pull. At one point I glanced over to the adjacent table to see what appeared to be a poor mans version of a yakiniku.
The couple were placing what could only be describe as cheap fatty offle on to the cooker. It looked absolutely rancid.
I turned to my friends and said get me the F out of here.
Awful staff, Awful service and what appeared to be food fit for chester zoo.
No thanks, get me that train...
