I regularly visit Ram's with family for lunch, once every week or two for the last couple of years. The vegetarian buffet is excellent and if anything, the quality and freshness seems to be improving. The value is excellent. Drinks aren't included but when I have asked for lassi the quality has been very good too.
One of my favourite parts - they will make fresh naan to order, as well as fresh dosa and puri. The naans aren't tandoori but they're excellent accompaniments. Get the garlic/chilli naan!
Service today from Megha and Disha was super and I thought it was a nice touch that they talked through all the buffet options before we started.
The chutneys are really good and where you can taste the freshness - coconut chutney is excellent, and the green coriander chutney is one of my favs. The mini punjabi samosa seems to be a new addition and it's impressive that these are clearly home-made (usually buffets will cut corners here). Today there was mixed vegetable korma, daal, sambal, chickpea curry and a few others. All appropriately spiced. It all comes across as very authentic.
But the highlight is always the paneer masala. This seems to be an everpresent on the menu. The paneer is clearly very fresh and is as good as you'll find. We've never gone home hungry. The prices have understandably recently gone up a little bit but the value is still there - most places will start increasing prices over the next weeks but only a few will maintain quality.
Today I enjoyed the shrikandh - I'm not a sweet-eater but it was really very good.
Worth noting that the hygiene has always been very good. The seats are comfortable. There are TVs so that there's something on in the background if kids get bored. A problem withsome buffets is that they're either busy or cramped, and this is never the case here.
I've never usually been a fan of buffets. One problem is that most buffets are full of oily food, but this isn't the case here - I don't find it too heavy. (if you find indian food to be heavy, usually the chef will be cheating by using a store-bought curry paste). But Ram's make it work. Pure vegetarian so it will suit every palate. I know of plenty of meat-eaters who enjoy this place also.
We eat here regularly because the food is consistent and we don't have to wait for service.
It's not possible to leave and still feel hungry - you will find...
