I recently had the pleasure of dining at Red Camel, an exceptional Afghan restaurant that left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for what would be an unforgettable culinary experience.
The menu at Red Camel is a delightful journey through Afghan cuisine, offering a diverse selection of dishes that are both rich in flavor and beautifully presented. I started with the Mantu, delicate dumplings filled with seasoned ground beef and topped with a tangy yogurt sauce. Each bite was a perfect harmony of textures and tastes, setting a high bar for the rest of the meal.
For the main course, I chose the Kabuli Pulao, a signature Afghan dish that truly lives up to its reputation. The tender lamb was cooked to perfection, melting in the mouth with every bite, while the rice, studded with sweet carrots and plump raisins, provided a delightful contrast. The spices were masterfully balanced, creating a depth of flavor that was both complex and comforting.
The Bolani, a stuffed flatbread, was another standout. Crispy on the outside and filled with a savory potato and leek mixture, it was the perfect accompaniment to the robust flavors of the main dishes. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite, showcasing the chef's commitment to quality.
No meal at Red Camel would be complete without trying their desserts. The Firni, a traditional Afghan milk pudding, was a sublime ending to the meal. Lightly flavored with cardamom and topped with crushed pistachios, it was both refreshing and indulgent.
Beyond the incredible food, the service at Red Camel was impeccable. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, eager to share the stories and traditions behind each dish. Their genuine hospitality added to the overall experience, making it feel more like a feast among friends than a simple dinner out.
Red Camel is a true gem, offering an authentic taste of Afghan cuisine that is sure to delight both newcomers and connoisseurs alike. I can't recommend it highly enough and look forward to many...
Read moreIt was my 1st time trying Red Camel after the suggestion of a trusted friend who had visited before. I wasn't so sure about the place as it had seemed rather small and the Menu was not as varied as some other restaurants. But once we arrived we were greeted with the best Customer Service I have experienced from ANY restaurant. The Sheikh and his Son wore such genuine smiles and were very welcoming.
We went as a group of 4 and ordered 2 portions of Lamb Chops, 15 wings, 2 skewers of Chicken Shish and £10 of Pilau Rice. The food arrived promptly (we did ring up in advance) and it was a truly remarkable masterpiece.
Cooked FRESH, the tender pieces of Lamb were arranged neatly over Pilau rice and what I gather is 'Afghani Rice' - the one with raisins. I am a huge fan of tender meat and this was truly a pleasant surprise to be able to indulge in such quality food from what I had otherwise deemed an unknown restaurant.
The Chicken wings were well-cooked and succulent, full of flavour and juicy. The Chicken Shish that followed had a very consistent texture and was well-cooked throughout. In fact all the items we ordered were cooked with such precision and care that it was heart-warming to see such compassion from people that have met you for the very first time.
We finished off the meal with some Green Tea which was absolutely amazing! All-in-all the Customer Service is second to none, the food was of a superior quality and was throughly cooked with no hint of being rushed and the portion sizes were generous to say the least.
Shockingly amazing experience like no other restaurant, and I highly advise anybody who hasnt been to go and try it. Just once. That was all it took...
Read moreI came to this place after a friend told me about it and I thought he was just exaggerating to me, but soon as I tasted the wings the flavours all hit me at once, I have never tasted wings like the wings served here. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the wings, lamb chops, sea bass, and the rice with raisens inside. I have been too MANY restaurants and I have not tasted better lamb chops or seabass anywhere. I wasn’t too keen on rice with raisens but soon as I took a bite and the flavours hit me I knew I would eat the whole plate. This is by far one of the best places I have ever been to eat in London or out London and if somebody with a lot of capital invested in these recipes they are going to make A LOT of money. You have to go here and eat to understand what I am talking about regarding the flavours. The staff appears to be family relatives and they were all friendly and polited, treated me and my wife very welcoming. The only negative thing I can say is that the service was a bit slow for me, it is not a place you can just come to eat quickly. The owner told me the reason for this is that he believes in everything being prepared freshly and he enforces this on his staff therefore it takes a little while longer. This was actually delight to my ears because i am very sensitive about hygiene and what i am eating. I recommend you...
