I have been to Shinde's Pure Veg restaurant greenstreet many times and every time we vist we keep hoping the service will improve because the food is really nice. But unfortunately we have not found any difference in the bad service that we receive all the time. So this was the last time we visited this restaurant on the 26th August. It's a shame as it's really difficult to find pure veg restaurants in East London as it is. Every time we visited the restaurant we felt like we wore being treated differently. As sikhs we experienced behaviour from staff as if they did not want to serve us. For instance. When we are first seated at the table we have to wait for the staff to give us the menu. So usually at restaurants the staff would give you the menu as soon as you sit down but in thus case the staff was going from one table to another opposite us just continuing to have laughs and conversations with other customers whilst behaving like we wore not there. Even going in out the kitchen several times not coming out with any food just casually going back and forth to talk and laugh with colleagues. 8 min go by still no menus. Oh finally the remember we are waiting for the menu. They gve us the menu and we don't once comment on their behaviour. We order our food. Then we wait..... 10 min another 10 min they come dashing past our table slam the can of coca colas on the table with to plastic cups.... Nice restaurant but they can't give glasses for some reason. We don't bother asking and just drink from the cans. Didn't appreciate the way the drinks was placed infront of us. They dash off. I get there are busy but no need to slam the drinks on our table. Waiting for the food 30 minutes no food. Then we notice the customers that came after us is being served food first and we so much respect. The staff are laughing and talking with them. 35 minutes we ask where our food is. And we don't even question why the people who came after us was served first. Their response to where our food is "one curry is being made then they will make the other." We waited 40 minutes half our food arrived the last curry we wore waiting for came 10 minutes after and we wore wondering the family that arrived at the restaurant after us and wore served before us had ordered so much more food then me and my husband. But they got all their food at the same time. Me and my husband ordered less then that family and had to wait forever for ou food and our food did not come all together but in stages. Anyways we still did nit make a comment. We ate our food and kept to ourselves. The staff went around to all tables to ask the customers how the food was. We did not get asked once.... We finished eating and went to the counter to pay. We waited behind the people that wore paying. We paid for the food. The people wo left the restaurant before us got nice polite behaviour from the staff. The staff said have a nice evening to the other customers but when we left nothing no eye contact or any communication. We left the restaurant feeling like we did something to make them upset. Which we did not. This service is the same we received multiple times but we kept coming because of the food. Now after receiving the same bad treatment to many times when we have not done anything to them to behave like this with us, we feel we will not be going to this restaurant again. Its not nice already when we walk into restaurants we get odd looks and when the staff are supposed to make you feel comfortable and taken care of.we...
Read moreI tried Shinde's Pure Veg on Green Street recently, and honestly, it was such a great experience from start to finish. The place is super clean and well designed, which made a really good first impression. It’s got that modern but still cozy feel, not too flashy, just simple and tasteful. You can tell they actually care about the atmosphere. It felt welcoming the moment I stepped in.
The only downside I noticed was that the tables were a bit sticky. Not dirty exactly, just that slightly tacky surface that makes you wonder if they were cleaned with the wrong spray or not wiped down thoroughly. It didn’t ruin the experience, but it was noticeable and kind of stood out given how clean the rest of the place was.
Now onto the food, which is really the star of the show. I ordered the pani poori, samosa chaat, and a mango lassi. Each one had its own thing going on, and I loved them all for different reasons.
The pani poori was absolutely on point. The pooris were super crisp and fresh, none of that soggy or chewy stuff you sometimes get elsewhere. They had that perfect crunch when you bite into them. The filling was flavorful, a nice mix of spiced mashed potatoes and sprouts, and the pani itself was tangy and spicy in all the right ways. They didn’t go overboard on the spice either so you could really taste the mint and tamarind in the water. It came chilled, which just elevated the whole thing especially on a hot day. Honestly I could’ve had two plates of just that.
Then came the samosa chaat, which was kind of the comfort dish of the trio. The samosa itself was nicely fried, golden and crisp without being too oily. When they broke it up and mixed it with the chole, chutneys, yogurt, and all the toppings, it turned into this crazy good mix of flavors and textures. There was the warmth of the chickpeas, the sweetness from the tamarind, a little kick from the green chutney, and the creaminess from the yogurt pulling it all together. Plus that bit of crunch from sev sprinkled on top. Every bite tasted a little different in the best way. It had this layered flavor profile that kept me going back for more even after I was full.
And finally the mango lassi. This one surprised me the most because I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. It was smooth, thick, not overly sweet, and had a real mango flavor to it not that artificial syrupy stuff. And it was cold and super refreshing which just hit the spot because it was such a warm day. I swear I could’ve sat there for another hour just sipping that and people watching. It was the perfect balance to the spices from the chaat and pani poori too so I’m really glad I got it.
Overall I’d say Shinde's did a fantastic job. The service was good too, friendly but not hovering. Everything felt relaxed and well thought out, like they actually want you to enjoy your time there. Aside from the sticky tables, it was a really great visit. If you're looking for a clean spot with really flavorful vegetarian Indian street food, this place should definitely be on your list. I’ll be going back soon to try the rest...
Read moreI recently had a very enjoyable meal at your lovely restaurant near Upton Park station. The food was absolutely delicious and served in a timely manner, which I greatly appreciated. Please extend my congratulations to your talented kitchen staff! While I was impressed with the quality of the food and the overall ambiance of your establishment, I did notice a few areas that, with some attention, could further enhance the customer experience. During my visit, I observed that the waiting staff's uniforms appeared to be unclean. Maintaining clean and presentable uniforms is crucial for creating a positive impression. Additionally, I noted some minor cosmetic issues that could be addressed. On the left wall, the texture from previous paintwork is still quite visible and could benefit from another coat. Similarly, on the lower right side, there is a crack in the wall near the tree decoration. I have attached photographs that illustrate these points. The bathroom has a stylish design; however, ensuring it is consistently clean, thoroughly disinfected, and includes a freshener would be a valuable improvement. Lastly, the bar area, being directly visible to customers, would benefit from a fresh coat of paint and should be kept impeccably clean. Overall, your restaurant has a wonderful vibe and a nicely designed interior. Addressing these finishing touches would undoubtedly elevate the overall impression you make on your guests. The reason for my one-star rating for service on this occasion is solely due to the issue with the cleanliness of the waiting staff uniforms. I genuinely look forward to returning in the near future and hope to see these points addressed so that I can provide a more comprehensive review of your service. Thank you for considering my feedback. I believe your restaurant has great potential, and these suggestions are offered with the intention of helping you achieve...
