I rarely write reviews, but my experience here was shockingly bad. We ordered a mix of dishes, including two whole tandoori chickens, two Lamb Sheek Kebabs, two chicken Sheek Kebabs, two chips and two mix salads. The shish kebabs were great, but the tandoori chicken was completely tasteless—inedible.
We complained politely to the waitress, who referred us to the manager. His response? “This is how we serve it,” and he refused to acknowledge any issue. When we asked for replacements, they flatly refused. No alternative, no apology, no refund. They were unwilling to take any responsibility, leaving us with food we couldn’t eat.
The lack of accountability and dismissive attitude from the management made a bad experience worse. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you value your money, time, and taste buds, avoid it. Your response is dismissive and misleading. This was not about “personal taste.” Tandoori chicken is meant to be marinated and full of flavour — what you served was plain, dry, and tasteless. That is failure, not preference.
We ordered two whole tandoori chickens because we were very hungry. Two whole chickens should mean eight pieces in total. Yet out of hunger, we only managed to eat two pieces — and left the other six untouched because they were completely inedible. If the food had simply not been to our “personal liking,” we would not have left most of it behind. Your argument does not stand up to logic.
The shish kebabs were delicious, and we ate them all. That proves this was not about ordering too much or being fussy, but about one dish being completely unacceptable.
Dismissing a genuine complaint, refusing replacement, refusing apology, and then hiding behind “taste” is insulting. If this is the attitude of the owner, then the management’s policy itself warrants a serious review. Diners deserve better than arrogance and excuses — spend your...
Read moreHimalaya Restaurant was once a gem on Green Street. I remember when it first opened in 1998—it was incredibly popular and always packed with customers. As a child, I used to visit often with my parents. The food was fantastic, especially the kebab rolls and lamb chops, which became legendary in the area.
Unfortunately, the restaurant has seen a serious decline in recent years. After the owner hands the management was transferred to a Bangladeshi team, things began to deteriorate. Prices increased significantly following a refurbishment, and customer service standards dropped drastically.
Last night, I visited to try the double kebab rolls. The experience was extremely disappointing. The puree was cold, and the staff showed little interest in serving customers properly. It felt like all the food was simply being reheated, with no care for quality or freshness. The service was poor, and the staff appeared untrained and unbothered.
It’s heartbreaking to see such a well-loved restaurant fall into this state. I hope the owner takes immediate action to monitor how the restaurant is being run. Food prices need to be reconsidered, and more importantly, staff need proper training on customer service and hygiene.
In my opinion, this restaurant should be inspected by the Newham Council for food safety and hygiene. Based on my recent visit, I do not believe they are maintaining acceptable standards.
It’s very sad to witness the fall of what was once a proud and respected establishment. I urge customers to be cautious and to check the quality of what is being served. I will not be returning unless significant...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would have! I’ve spent £73 worth of food today and me including my family had only 1 bite of foods all went to waste! The food was uncooked, unseasoned, cold and full of oil and the claimed that the paratha are freshly made but it’s clear that they’ve used so much oil and rushed to heat it up! I’ve threw up the food and currently feel extremely sick. This is the worst place I have ever eaten in my whole life and this place should be closed down. I’ve spoke to the staff and all they did was apologise nothing else. I was so sick that I had to leave to go home and after I threw up at home I called to speak to the manager and he said I should have spoken to him there and that he cannot do anything, he started screaming on the face saying that “200 customers ate and had no issues so how do you” .. if that’s the case the reviews and ratings on here says otherwise!
The food as well as their customer service is horrible they did nothing to compensate. Even the restaurant looks unclean. This is the worst place I have ever been in my life I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO HERE!!
I will be reporting this place to the food hygiene inspectors and I will take this further as I’ve never experience a worst service as this in my whole life and believe that no one else should eat in a place where they could get...
