I ordered a takeaway from Shish Legends to be delivered via Deliveroo. I thought I'd try somewhere different for a change. I was extremely disappointed with the flavour and quality of food. So much so I contacted the restaurant directly as I felt it was important to provide feedback. I emailed the restaurant and told them the following: "that the lamb ribs were extremely fatty and lacking any flavour. No taste at all, neither of the charcoal style cooking or sumac. The chilli sauce was disgusting. This should be quite a standard sauce no matter which Turkish restaurant I order from. There was no flavour and just pure spice. No visibility of coriander. Such a shame as I love chilli sauce. I could not finish the food as it was so disappointing.". To their credit, they did respond two days after apologising, which was very gracious of them. Zaish responded with the following: "Thank you for your feed back. I am sorry to hear that we haven't met your expectation in your order. I have checked with the team and have been informed that the Deliveroo rider was late then the scheduled pick up time. We have had numerous delivery problems with Deliveroo recently. I am not entirely sure why your order was lacking flavour and taste and I can only assume the order was left on the warmer a lot longer than usual, waiting for the rider to pick up. We served few dozens of Lamb Ribs on the night and haven't had any other issues except yours. We value our customers very much and therefore would like to apologise for the unsatisfactory service you have encountered in this instance, to put this right I would like to offer you the same or any main meal complimentary (collection only)*. Please print this email and provide on collection. I hope you can give us another chance to put this right.". *Valid for 6 months from today, excludes Fri & Sat. The gesture was nice, however: 1. the fact you've had no other issues doesn't mean there isn't one - it simply means either your customers can't be bothered to feedback to you (meaning you'll never improve), or they haven't had decent quality Turkish food so don't know what quality control is. The fact of the matter is the ribs are of poor quality and nothing can change that. It's great that you've recognised there is potentially an issue with Deliveroo but highly doubt that would infuse Charcoal or sumac flavouring to your food, it's bland, there's no sugar-coating that. Lastly, thanks very much for an offer of a free dish, but that's not what I was anchoring for. My order was on a Saturday and I had it delivered. The fact that I would have to visit YOUR restaurant on Sunday to Thursday to obtain a free takeaway is laughable. So thanks, but no thanks. I do hope you can take the constructive feedback from someone that does know the restaurant industry quite well, or not. Up to you. It's a lesson to myself to stick to what I know, as they say, if it ain't broke -...
Read moreOur recent visit to Shish Legend was an absolute delight, making for a memorable evening for the entire family. From the moment we stepped in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a wonderful dining experience.
The décor was both charming and authentic, transporting us straight to the heart of Turkey with its intricate designs and vibrant colors. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout our meal.
The menu offered a fantastic array of traditional Turkish dishes, each more tempting than the last. We started with a variety of appetisers, including fresh and flavourful hummus, lahmacun , and crispy falafel. The kids were particularly thrilled with the freshly cooked bread with salad, chilli sauce, garlic sauce, which was soft, warm, and perfect for dipping.
For the main course, we tried some burgers with chips, chicken with rice, nuggets with chips and 4 massive plates of mixed platters with deliciously spiced wings, Adana, chops, ribs, chicken and lamb stew and many more. Each dish was cooked to perfection, with rich, savory flavors that truly showcased the essence of Turkish cuisine. The kids couldn't get enough of the succulent chicken skewers and the buttery rice pilaf, which quickly became their favorites.
Turkish tea and mango lassi was a highlight, with the lassi stealing the show. It was the perfect balance of sweet and creamy, with fresh taste of mango leaving your mouth watery and wanting more. The kids also enjoyed the Turkish tea (surprisingly), which was a fun and tasty treat to end the meal. Kids had so much fun playing in the waiting area.
Overall, our visit to Shish legend was a wonderful experience. The food was exceptional, the ambiance was delightful, and the service was top-notch. It's rare to find a place that caters so well to both adults and children, but Shish legend managed to do just that. They made us feel at home with the warmth service. Very reasonably priced too. We left with full stomachs and happy hearts, already planning our next visit. Highly recommended for families looking for a fantastic dining...
Read moreI'm confused to the high rating and all the 5 star reviews, there's so many better places. I was in the mood for a Turkish meat feast and saw this spot on google. Never heard of it before, but I had high hopes with an impressive 4.6 rating.
I ordered a platter for 2 which cost £32.95. A decent price i thought, hard to find a platter these days for that price.
The presentation of the platter wasn’t great, looked sloppy with meat piled on a plate.
The Adana kebab was decent, with nice char on the outside and nicey spiced meat.
While most items were cooked how I like it, soft and juicy - most of the meats were average, and pretty much everything lacked flavour and seasoning. Thank goodness for the chilli sauce, it was the only thing that had flavour. Even the salad that comes with the platter was average.
Despite being the only customers dining at the time the service was not attentive with our table not even cleared when we finished.
The decor is very brown and dated, could do with a refurb to make it modern.
The low cost menu doesn’t balance out the average tasing food. Sadly, I don't think it's a spot I'll be trying out again.
They don't serve alcohol but do allow customers to bring their own....
