Southpaw Coffee isn’t just a café—it’s a mood. Tucked into the curve of Caledonian Road, this pint-sized spot punches far above its weight, serving up some of the best coffee in North London with a side of curated cool and unapologetic charm.
Atmosphere Minimalist but warm. Think mint-green coffee bags, a roll of brown paper scrawled with the drinks menu, and a strict no-laptop policy that keeps the vibe social and intentional. There are only a handful of seats, so it’s more about the moment than the marathon. The energy is buzzy, creative, and quietly confident.
Coffee & Bites Southpaw takes its coffee seriously—and it shows:
Flat white – often described as one of the best in London
Gluten-free cookies & pastries – rich, fresh, and thoughtfully sourced
Grilled cheese toasties – not just comfort food, but a ritual (weekend specials like beef ragu toasties are local legends)
Wine by the glass or bottle – a surprise twist that adds depth to the offering
Everything feels curated, not crowded. The menu is compact, but every item...
Read moreLovely little coffee shop with great beans and friendly staff!
Used to go here a lot during lockdown as it was a great way to get out of the house. Their coffee beans are really tasty for milky coffees as well as espressos.
The staff are always very friendly even when the place is packed and they’re spinning around. If you go early in the morning make sure to grab one if their pastries (their almond croissant are my favourite), and during lunch they do sandwiches and soups. Highly recommend both!
If you’re in luck, you’ll be there on the day when they make saltbeef bagels, and that’s a MUST!
Overall a very nice coffee shop with great people running it. You’ll definitely run into a lot of dogs as people like to go on a walk this way and if you a doggo yourself, make sure to bring them along, the staff love them and they even have snack/water...
Read morePLEASE can you sort the supply issues out with the almond croissants and stock more. These are my fav and I live in Elephant and Castle. As such I don't get much opportunity to visit and don't have time to make the trip before work on weekdays. I've made a detour or a specific journey to get them and 5/7 times there have been none left. Today I wanted to buy 3 of them at about 10.30 but they were all gone. The server said I needed to come early to guarantee, I think selling out by 10.30 on a Sat is too early to run out. Or can you offer delivery or a way of pre buying a croissant in the morning or the day before ready for collection. They are delicious and I can't cope with the disappointment! This is why 4 star on service - need more stock or a way to reserve the...
