Nice park which was relatively quiet when I visited during the week. Appears to be popular with dog walkers. Small hedged pathway around the edge of the open grass area, to stroll around, along with seating area if you just want to relax and take it all in.
The clock tower is now open and free to enter for tours. You have to book in advance, as you have a steward taking you to the top and they confirm with you that you are physically able to climb the 220 steps, which are narrow and open. Therefore you have to be confident with heights as well as confined spaces. However, I am told that there are amazing views to be had at the top. Read moreOur dog was on the lead and a dog ran up and attacked him by grabbing his of his stomach and lifting him up. Our friend, who was walking Oscar, leapt onto the attacking dog and managed to get him to release ours. The dog bit her face and hand whilst its owner stood ineffectually telling the dog to stop. When she spoke to the park security, she was told her injuries (requiring stitches) were her own fault and she should have let the dogs fight. The park (formerly a cattle market) has a variety of features making it well suited for most activities. There is a playground to play football or basket ball, a wooded area to see some nature, a field to picnic on, benches scattered about to sit and enjoy the sun and scenery, and a cafe with a toilet.
Beware, the park is regularly used to walk dogs so if you are afraid of them this park isn’t the best option. That being said I’ve haven’t seen an irresponsible dog owner when...
