The worst service I have ever received in this Startbucks!
After a day in the sun we walked into Starbucks Purley Way to have a late afternoon drink and a ladies chat to finish our day as we were in the mood for something nice a refreshing. On arrival we wanted to use the toilet, wash our hands from the park before having our drinks and a slice of cake.
Our first interaction with Mary (as the server on the desk...before we spoke to her) was unwelcoming, stern and rude. As we demonstrated the desperation to need to use the bathroom she refused and said no as we had not ordered. We explained politely we were bursting and my cousin went as far as to explain her need to change very quickly as she was on her period and had every intention of ordering after we were more relaxed able to breath and more importantly had washed our hands.
She refused again and proceeded to ignore us as I stepped back to let another customer order we went towards the toilet. We asked for the code from an existing customers receipt and proceeded to the toilet.
Mary left her position of serving and taking orders to follow us with the attempt to bully and humiliate us as we tried the codes on the door. We pleaded again as she could see we were both desperate and then decided to lie to us and told us that the code did not work because they were staff toilets and then told us to wait while she went to get her manager...another lie. We waited and when her manager did not arrive we went back to the desk and to our surprise she had not got her manager at all infact her manager/ supervisor was surprised we were still waiting to use the toilet and helped us get into the bathroom. Thank you very much to Elaine for being a human being and a women and having understanding of what we were explaining. She allowed us to use the toilet...can you imagine what world we live in that Starbucks would enforce a staff member to such an extent to refuse anyone using the toilet and then to encourage bullying and intimidation tatics to force us to spend money under pressure. Once we had used the toilet we were able to make sense of the treatment we received and decided this was not the place for our relaxed afternoon vibe.
As we left and I asked Mary for her name she asked why and I expressed how disappointed I was that she would go so far as to stop anyone let alone another women from using the toilet in such fashion. She proceed to raise her voice at me, point her finger in my face and walk off to involve other staff members and proceed to argue with me. I made it clear we would not spend money in the store after such treatment and we left!
As a very long time customer of this particular branch I am disappointed and disgusted with the service by this server and would never spend in any store that is openly dishonest and rude.
A women is a 4year old child wanted to let her child wee and Mary also refused! Where is the simple basic humanity!
The store was not busy at all and I could see no honest reason for such...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe did an order for take away which costs just under Ā£20 for 3 drinks which I thought ok upper end of price but Iāll swallow it as we do enjoy a Starbucks as a treat, my partner waited for the drinks and I popped to the loo and I wish I didnāt as the absolute state of the one I went in was disgusting to the point I had to cover my face from the foul smell from it which didnāt come from the previous person. The floor was covered in urine, the sink had toilet roll in it which people looked like they had been spitting in it, there was toilet paper all over the floor too so I got straight out. When the drinks came they were made wrong so we asked for them to be redone which they did but the collection area was covered in coffee, sugar tissues, and all other manner of rubbish and behind the counter looked like complete mayhem but it was busy but I would expect the staff to keep the counter clean at least. Any empty tables were littered with finished wrappers or takeaway cups or coffee and sugar wrappers and stirrers so we decided not to take a seat.
Since coming home my partner me and our daughter have had upset stomachās from our frappeās that had all had and that was all that we had from that time and had not ate or drank anywhere else so I would assume that the ice machine may need a clean as everything else seemed to look clean.
Overall we wonāt be visiting this place again as all I can say is this is the worst one we have ever visited. Starbucks as a brand is being let down big time by this store and if they were to ever visit they would probably end up shutting it down. I understand itās a busy store but surely the toilets should be checkers every few hours to be inspected and at least the tables should be cleared and cleaned for customers considering the prices being charged for what is basically a coffee shop with a high footfall. I would like to see an improvement to this place but even if it was after todayās visit and the overall experience we wonāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStarbucks at Purley Way, Croydon, delivers a reliable and pleasant coffeehouse experience with a touch of local convenience. During my visit, I enjoyed a soothing cup of chamomile tea accompanied by a gluten-free chocolate brownie, which proved to be a delightful combination. The tea was freshly brewed, presenting a delicate floral aroma that felt calming and refreshing. The brownie, though gluten-free, was rich and indulgent, with a satisfying texture that didnāt compromise on flavor.
The location is well-maintained, with a clean and welcoming interior. The seating arrangements cater to a variety of preferences, from cozy corners perfect for solo relaxation to larger tables suited for groups. The ambiance strikes a balance between Starbucksā signature modern aesthetic and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Staff members were friendly and efficient, ensuring a smooth and quick ordering process even during busy hours. Their attentiveness and cheerful demeanor added to the positive experience.
Accessibility is another strong point. Situated conveniently on Purley Way, it offers ample parking and easy access, making it an ideal spot for a quick refreshment break during shopping or errands. The availability of gluten-free options and other dietary accommodations reflects Starbucksā commitment to inclusivity and customer satisfaction.
However, the popularity of this branch means it can get quite crowded at peak times, which may slightly detract from the tranquility some visitors seek. Nonetheless, the quality of the beverages, food, and service compensates for this minor inconvenience.
Overall, Starbucks at Purley Way is a solid choice for those looking for a dependable cafĆ© experience with a touch of indulgence. Whether youāre in the mood for a simple tea or a satisfying treat, this branch has something...
