Sydney Arms — Restaurant in London

Hired the “private” function room for an event at the weekend. Paid £299, for a buffet for 20 head, food was great but no where near enough for 20 people and poor selection, compared to when I used the venue 3 years old. I had people with dogs and prams walks through my private function, even the manager standing over the buffer food on his phone talking loudly. Girls behind the bar were great! Food not what I expected at all, I spend the week on the build to the event calling me the pub as I had no heard anything from there since my booking made 4 months ago, food was served by paper plates, and wasn’t provided a bin to clear these away when finished. OK so we turned up at approx 2:45 this afternoon with our dog. We were grumpily told be the barman we could only sit on the one bar as the other was reserved. This was not an issue as we managed to get a seat fairly quickly. We had previously seen the menu and were looking forward to lunch. However Mr Grumpy at the bar said, as we asked to open a tab for food and drinks, said "No food 'till 6." OK I understand that in some pubs this is the norm but having looked over their menu I cannot see this stated any where. They have a Lunch menu and an evening menu but no notification of what times they apply and that there is a gap in service. A very disappointing end to a very lovely afternoon stroll. Needless to say we will not be back...

A throughly agreeable pub on a swanky road in suburban Chiselhurst. Has nailed the tricky combination of traditional boozer and food led pub very well. It's has 3 distinct areas, a more traditional bar, a middle bit if you don't fancy the TVs and loud chatter, and a light conservatory out the back set up in a more restaurant setting. Also a garden with tables out some double doors.

I had feared given the location it might be pricey, but actually the price of drinks was very fair.

There were lots of staff who were very friendly and competent. It struck me as possible family owned and/or run.
