So bean meaning to try this coffee shop for a long while and now after only recently just been introduced to the world of coffee it was on my to-try list.
Perfect location because it feels like it's tucked away enough but exposed enough to be seen if any of that makes sense?
I always see it's busy so thought it must be good....
My friend who is a local to the area and I went in... the decor albeit clever with its repurpose scaffolding for furniture, found the place to be...well not very cosy. It really did scream to me to drink your lukewarm coffee and get out!
After a barista yelled out "FLAT WHITE!" (which I assumed was ours because it could've been anyones) checked it had plant based milk in case it was for someone else and then sat down and looked down at disappointingly small coffee in a cold cup. What is happening to the size of the coffees just lately? They certainly don't match up to the inflated price that's for sure.
Anyway I digress (and no I don't hide behind a keyboard and say these things). Upon taste it was warm and bitter (like a gaslighting ex) so in about 3 gulps it was gone. The staff certainly weren't very welcoming and albeit I'm not expecting a warm hug, a little patience would go a long way to first time visitors. That will be my only visit mind so thank you for the first and...
Read moreBusy, slightly chaotic, and full of caffeine-fuelled ambition, Tamp is one of those rare spots where the hype actually makes sense. Made my way down on a sunny Sunday and it was packed, but the staff handled it like pros. Despite the crowd, they were friendly, fast, and clearly knew their coffee.
I went for my go to iced oat latte and was fully expecting it to get drowned in milk, but no. Their house blend punched right through, and was deep, caramelly (that’s a word right), and properly balanced. And the pastel de nata? Unreal. Burnt top, wobbly middle, flaky base. Ended up going back for thirds… no shame.
The pastry game here is actually wild. The manchego and Serrano croissant is a full mood. Coffee’s great, but the behind the scenes baker might just steal the show.
Matcha fans: they do it properly with a whisk and bowl. Mine was decent, not super grassy but still smooth and enjoyable. Spotted an iced açaí matcha on the specials board too, and I WILL be back for that.
Inside, it’s cosy but tight. Expect to hover awkwardly if it’s busy. It’s a mixed crowd with families, tourists, locals, all jostling for a good brew. Bonus points for being a Living Wage employer and having their own merch wall (yes, I caved).
Worth the queue? 100%. Just come early,...

Staff didn’t bring our coffee outside despite me alone spending over £20 in Tamp and staff seeing me struggle with my elderly mother and two small dogs.
Upon asking what coffee is available I was given a very “meh” response from staff with no interest or concern to sell what Tamp offers to me.
I’ve only just seen online that Tamp serves a matcha latte which I had no absolutely no idea in store and matcha is one of my favourite drinks. I would have loved to try Tamps version of it.
Food is small in size and over priced In my opinion. We had two Natas and what looked like a Cornish pastie, it was tiny this all came to over £10.
One of the only positives I can think of off the top of my head is that Tamp is dog friendly which is great given that I have dogs myself and am a dog lover.
My iced vanilla latte with oat milk was pleasant just full of ice and the portion in the cup was small, didn’t fill up the whole cup (pictured).
Disabled parking outside the store was convenient for me just the service inside from staff really wasn’t that great. But maybe that’s just the people of...
