The Clapham Tap — Restaurant in London

Not too keen on this place. Made a reservation for my young daughters celebration and through discussions with some members of staff, information was not passed to other members (clearly a lapse in communication). I was promised we could do a number of things such corkage for our own bottles but just for a couple days before the due date, someone more senior said that couldn't happen. Ordered food for kids, just for that same senior person of this establishment to say that is not permitted. All these things were discussed prior to booking the venue and sending out invites to our guests but they failed to mention this. Considering we ordered 10 of the shared platters and I collated all the receipts of my guys who bought a drinks which came up to £800,plus what I spent on additional chips, nachos and the platters th is was well excess of £1200 plus corkage of £60 (£10 per bottle).

Had to come to an agreement to have the corkage for the 6 bottles as they said it is not allowedand also the food was only for the kids, not adults, hence the 10 platters.

Staff are sarky on the phone and talk over you, but not so when face to face. Not sure if they feel really confident over the phone for some reason.

Would I go here ever again... Nah!

My visit was truly marvellous. Service is quick and efficient., temporarily allowing takeaway orders from outside the venue to make up for lack of chef staff is a genius idea! Moved our table numerous times to accommodate for the inclement weather AND, in addition, front of house staff stood propping up the overhead canopy for near an hour trying to prevent the awning above from getting seating areas wet in completely adverse conditions. Ordered Aberdeen Angus lasagne, it had barely any mince. Told this to the waiter who asked if I'd like a refund, I said either I'd like more meat on this one or a burger (which surely would have at least 30 times more meat if normal size).

Then I continue to eat as why would I waste it?

Chef comes over, asks what the problem is, I tell and show him there's not much meat. He then rudely tells me to stop eating and he'll make me another one.

When it comes I'm in the toilet and it's got same amount as before but wits some new burnt garlic bread. What a waste. I eat it cause I'm starving.
