The Elephant & Castle is located in a quiet side street not far from Kensington High Street. The nearest tube is High St Ken which is just a few minutes walk away. Be sure to walk up atmospheric Kensington Church Walk to get here, you won’t be disappointed. . Not be confused with The Elephant & Castle in SE1, this Elephant & Castle pub is in Kensington. It occupies a corner plot amongst the cute independent shops and upscale properties that surround it. . Inside it’s a warm and cosy affair, this pub has a local village pub feel to it. The walls are clad in dark wood panelling which have pictures and photos of local history. The seating is made up of sumptuous sofas and benches which make for a comfortable stay. The bar is centrally located with a couple of columns in front to perch your elbow on, at the back of the pub is an intimate snug with a few stools overlooking the bar. . This is a @nicholsonspubs pub, so you know the beer line up will have something you fancy on it. I opted for a Pravha, my pint was decent and just over average price. The food menu is traditional pub grub with an emphasis on hearty pies, fish & chips costs £17.50. The service here was spot on, the pub was busy and the staff coped admirably and did so with a smile. . The atmosphere here was great, the pub was busy inside and out, there was a upbeat buzz all around. If you have a strong quiz game, why not visit on a Tuesday to try and secure a £40 bar tab. . Asked for a spoon for my food , knife and fork appeared but no spoon. Had to ask for a spoon for the second time , slack service. Not coming back to this pub. You just needed to say you got it wrong , and are either retraining your staff or firing them. If a customer orders a bottle of white wine , then just serve it cold and offer a wine bucket with ice. It is is Hidden away in a Side street just northeast of Kensington Town Hall and was first granted a beer house licence in 1865. The building was originally two adjacent houses. It features a historically significant interior for the area; take note of the lovely Charrington's bar-back. The regular Beers are London Pride, Doom Bar, and Nicholsons Pale Ale. A variety of brewers supply the guest beers. All day long, with the exception of 4-5pm, food is served, particularly sausages and pies.
