Restaurant's response to negative review on their food:

Signora probably you had a bad day but being so offensive. But no problem thanks God we do have to many customers who on the bad or good day's respect and appreciate our passion for food ! WE ARE EXTREMELY PROUD ITALIAN PROVIDING AUTHENTIC ITALIAN FOOD! Clearly this is not a professional place of work for anyone who could respond to constructive criticism so bitterly (or at least from what could be understood of that very 'well-written' statement).

The review was not at all offensive - believe that it could have been significantly worse i.e. more honest. The review was generous, considering what was actually offensive was the food served. You need to learn to take criticism in order to call yourselves a professional business - it's no wonder you are lacking success and so freely bark back at an honest review of a personal experience from a customer.

Nevertheless, the proof is in the pudding (pun intended). Best of luck to the unfortunate customers that stumble across this disaster.

Original Review 22/02/22: We went to this restaurant at the weekend as we thought it would be a nice little authentic Italian but could not be more wrong. First, I'd like to say both the waiters we had were lovely. However, the experience we had was so shockingly bad that I genuinely cannot believe this place is still open. There was only one table of guests when we walked in, and after about 7 minutes of the 'specials' being read to us, we ordered everything we wanted right away. It took quite a while to bring one plate of burrata to the table, where they then forgot to even place the order for our other starter ordered at the same time. We let that slide as we didn't particularly want it after the very mediocre burrata. Despite the restaurant being practically empty, our main course finally arrived after another 45 minutes. I cannot put into words how absolutely appalling the food was - it was just shocking. I ordered the 'tiger prawn' linguine, which came with what I can only describe as overcooked, soggy pasta with boiled and rubbery squid bits in salty water thrown onto the plate. The pizza was atrocious! The meat was again thrown on, with jarred olives, soaking the pizza bread with salty, wet toppings. The whole 'meal' was disgusting to say the least and you will be better off going to Pizza Hut. I don't write bad reviews (or any for that matter), but the truth of this place needs to be told as the reviews here are misleading. The owners should be ashamed to call this Italian Cuisine, let alone food - it is offensive, and the restaurant should definitely not be called La...

What a horrible dining experience and the worst restauranteur I've ever had the misfortune to encounter. I was expecting lots of great things when coming to this restaurant. It has lots of fab reviews and I thought it would be a good place to take my mother and my auntie. I'll talk about the good bit first. The pasta is really well made. My auntie had the mushroom pappardelle and it was acceptable. My mother and I had the Tiger prawn linguine. Again the pasta was fine, but the dish is really one dimensional and the prawns were over cooked and rubbery, which is pretty unacceptable when there are only two main components to a dish. No shell reduction jus or anything with flavour so that so quite disappointing too. The wine menu was even worse. The best wine in the house is a below mediocre Gavi and only 5 or 6 whites on the menu to choose from, whether you are drinking by the glass or the bottle. As it's so stupidly small, they cram you in and you can't hear yourself at your own table because you're so close to other diners and their conversations. And finally now about the owner/ manager, madam, whatever her role is. The lights were so bright and you have a standing lamp squashed in next you at eye level and it's sucks out any of the little atmosphere left in that awful place. So I turned down the lights on the dimmer switch next to me. I should have asked first, but the reaction of this madam was unacceptable, she shouted at me in front of everyone and humiliated me. She ruined my whole night with my family. She is uncontrollable and really rude, she turned it into worst dining experience I've ever had. If I could give zero stars to this hole that thinks it's much more than it...

We made a booking an hour before arrival and walked from Knightsbridge just to make it on time before we all got hungry.

Upon arrival we were told there was amistake and the bookings wrmerent closed. We didn't just accept and of course 15 minutes later we got a table as people were leaving.

Then we were left alone for ages because the same waitress was chatting at the table across and even after getting her attention she wouldn't come asap, knowing we were almost turned away, then made to wait for 15-20 minutes for our table. She also messed up the order, the first round almost everything in regards of the drinks.

They ran out of one of the starters, one of the sauce for main, the pasta was overcooked, risotto on the salty side.

On top we got an eyeroll from another waitress (can't remember what for) even though we took the bumps fairly well.

Had to request the fan to be turned off twice, while the place was full of people with jackets on.

Took another good 10-15 mins to get an espresso...

We had the good fortune of discovering La Fortuna for our last night in London. From the moment we walked up there was something charming and inviting about this unpretentious restaurant. The waiter greeted us warmly and obviously had great rapport with the other guests, many of whom seemed local. Chef Elsa came out to tell us the specials and we settled on a seafood salad (grilled calamari, prawns, peppers, and langoustine, with plenty of greens and black olives)which was excellent. My partner followed this with a prawn and spicy vegetable ravioli and I had the penne alla carbonara (made properly with guanciale and no cream!). Elsa and her team were lovely and engaging throughout our experience, and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in London. Oh, and if you know anyone looking for a waiting job in London they’re desperately short staffed!!

La Fortuna is a delightful Italian restaurant with a warm, family-friendly vibe. Elsa, the chef, is charming and welcoming, often preparing special dishes and happily accommodating customers’ preferences. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. The staff are friendly and have been with the restaurant for a long time, which reflects their satisfaction and loyalty to the place. I’ve visited 7-8 times and already noticed many regulars. The restaurant has been a neighborhood staple for years. The food is delicious, with generous portions and fresh ingredients. I’ve brought several friends for dinner, and they all enjoyed the experience as well. Conveniently located just minutes from High Street Kensington, the restaurant has limited seating, so be sure to book in advance as it often fills up quickly.
