Building dating back to the 1870s as a hotel, it's got great bones, then converted into the beloved Norbiton & Dragon (reference to the Thai restaurant that used to reside there too), and now a trendy crafty pizza-serving sports-showing pub with a garden / crèche in the back.
Beers are again that macro-craft affair in the form of Brixton, Four Pure and Beavertown, but they also regularly a few guests on, including ales from Park Brewery and kegs from the likes of Siren, Gipsy Hill, Mondo and Lucky Saint. Beer pours good here, they know their stuff and the staff always quick to recommend what's tasting decent. Pizzas are @flatboyspizza again, which always bang.
A stone's throw from Norbiton station, walkable from Kingston, same train line from Waterloo (via Richmond). It would be ideal if you were looking for a venue pre-Twickenham (🤢), or need a spot coming out of Richmond Park for the footy - this is your place.
It also used to be the place where the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes met every Saturday. Not sure if...
Read moreConsidering myself and my best friend are regulars here we have never had problems at this pub as it used to be 1 of our favourites. Called at half past 3 in the afternoon to book a table like I normally do for 6.30pm that night and that we have a taste card as I do every other month on a Thursday evening. The man on the phone was flappy, rushing and kept asking me to spell my name 3 times.
We arrive at 6.30pm to be told that our booking is for tomorrow and that I hadn't booked via the phone but online which is a complete lie as I showed the call log. The manager is rude and arrogant and could learn a thing or two about customer service. You should never tell a customer what they have done or how they done and then have to apologies, not because of how rude you were but because you were embarrassed in front of other customer by the lack of organisation the place now has. Terribly disappointed and won't be going back anytime soon.
Please bring back the old management and staff, this place won't last too...
Read moreAs you know I am a big fan of gastropubs, however I was left extremely disappointed and truthfully quite gobsmacked at cold reception I experienced from one of the staff. As I approached I was met with hostility and made to feel rather uncomfortable as if I was intruding on something or if I was someone not welcome.
One of the bartenders with the hat and beard looked completely uninterested and miserable. He was very blunt and grumbled under his breath to which I could not understand. I remember when this public house was thriving part of the Kingston going out scene. As this person was stacking away the chairs to close the restaurant, he was visibly distressed and throwing the furniture around. The icy reception ruined the overall experience and whilst I returned to the bar hoping to offer a friendly face, I had to wait while he finished his conversation about a video game Resident Evil or some kind of ultraviolent computer game.
Very disappointing, save your money...
