I cannot recommend this pub enough, mainly based on my recent visit on Sunday 13 September. I arrived around 6.30pm-7pm with my mum in the hope that we could get some food (although I wasn't too hopeful as it was late on a Sunday). The chef was actually the one who greeted us at the bar and she confirmed that they were still doing food but that if we wanted a Sunday roast we may have to wait as she was out of vegetable and potatoes and even then, she did not have all the veg or Yorkshire Puds as they were all sold out as they were very busy earlier in the day. We decided to wait for her to put something together for us and neither of us were disappointed. Everything was cooked to perfection. The roast potatoes, the veg (it was not over our under cooked) and the beef and pork was cooked extremely well. It tasted amazing!!! I will definitely go again if the same chef is cooking. One of the bar staff was very friendly, polite and funny as well (a young lad) however a young girl behind the bar (possibly even a manager?) was rather abrupt to everyone and a tad unwelcoming, but despite this, I am providing five stars based solely on the incredible food and service...
Read moreI had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. We waited an unusually long time for our food, and when it finally arrived, it was cold. Although our waiter was kind and offered to replace the meals, the replacement dishes came out in just a few minutes, suggesting they were microwaved rather than freshly prepared. Worse, one of the plates had a strand of hair in it. When we pointed this out, the staff didn’t seem to care and made no effort to address the issue.
To make matters worse, my son’s burger was inedible. The patty was hard and burnt, and the bun was stale and wrinkled. He was so upset because he loves burgers, but this one was so bad he couldn’t even have a second bite. He ended up having a meltdown because he was hungry, but there was nothing he could eat. We ended up leaving most of the food on the table and couldn’t wait to leave the restaurant. They didn’t offer any form of compensation for the poor food or service.
I would never return to this restaurant, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. Save your time and money—there are plenty of better...
Read moreNo half measures here. If you’re going to do anything at all, do it properly. That’s how it’s done at The Plough pub in Beddington. An inviting and friendly pub, were the staff welcome you like old friends, and what a delicious Christmas meal, we had. We were greeted with such a warm welcome by the marvellous Rachel who made us all so comfortable, helping with the mobility scooter. The moment we walked in, we were shown to our lovely, festive set table, where we settled in to enjoy the evening. A friendly and charming Matilda took our orders, and made sure we had everything we needed. The evening was a resounding success, with full to the brim stomachs, on the great selection from the delicious festive menu and a cheery conclusion to our Christmas party. Sylvie, Veronica, Ivy, Janet, Liz and Dorothy all send their grateful thanks and appreciation to the superb chef and to Rachel, Matilda and Don,...
