🚇 Canning Town 🍺 £4.00 Fosters A Well Run Community Local. The Princess Alexandra is located on busy Barking Road on the border between Canning Town and Plaistow. The nearest Tube is Canning Town, it’s a ten minute walk to get here. The pub was built in 1867 and then rebuilt in 1967 as part of the redevelopment of Canning Town in the post war years. This a staunch West Ham pub that has a number of Hammers flags hanging from the exterior of the building. This is a classic traditional two bar post war pub, I wasn’t sure which one was the Public or Saloon. The bar on the left is a good size and is bright and airy. The servery is located on the right and is surrounded by stools. There is plenty of other seating around the bar including a faux leather banquette under the window. The right hand bar is more compact version of the left, both bars were immaculately clean. At the front of the pub is an outside space with a number of benches if you fancy an Oily Rag. The beer line up was a selection of standard keg lager, bitter and cider. I decided on a Fosters, my pint was decent enough and, price point was appreciated. This pub doesn’t serve food. I arrived just before 4pm on a sunny Saturday afternoon in September. The pub was fairly busy in both bars, there were a fair few outside also. The atmosphere was relaxed and calm with the odd hail of laughter coming from the regulars sat around the bar. The horse racing was on the box on mute, the soundtrack was a soulful mix of Luther Vandross and George Benson classics. It was good to see this pub thriving on a Saturday afternoon. This is clearly a well run pub that is well supported locally. I enjoyed my time here, although brief. If you’re in this neck of the woods, it is well worth popping in here for a pint. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 02.09.23

My partner and I Visited last night, nice environment, good prices and friendly enough customers. Bar staff (female) very rude, made to feel very unwelcome, she even announced that she is sending us into the bar next door as she didn’t want us in where the darts team were playing as ‘we are too loud’ we had only had one conversation with one of the darts team before the ‘away team’ even arrived! We done as we were told and went into the other bar and watched the football, then came back in the main bar where the bar lady loudly announced that ‘it’s like talking to a brick wall’ referring to us. Would never consider returning to anywhere having been spoken to like that. If you’re not a regular, then give...

One of those 1 star reviews? Whats their problem! I walked down and arrived at 1030, still open, people playing pool. Implored the guy to serve us, but he refused. Showed him Dad was on his stick and we had hustled for it, but he sent us on our way, over one last drink. The locals stuck up for us. Don't want to be petty for the sake of it, but this is what 1 star reviews are, for right? This was the 1 star experience that nobody else will have. Probably good if you...
