This pub is a Jewel, a prime example of how a traditional English pub can fulfil a positive role in it's community. That this pub survives in its out of the way location is a testament to skill and dedication of the landlord. A regular CAMRA award winner you will always find an interesting bevvy here served by happy, helpful and friendly staff. Regular live music; bands or open mic jams, intersperse quiz nights and irregular events such as cider making weekends and beer festivals, I believe it even has it's own little theatre group that puts on occasional shows, There's a pool table on one side, a lovely garden at the back plus a few sheltered trestle tables for those social smokers at the front. - The decor's old fashioned but in a good way, which only adds to the warm and welcoming atmosphere; I can't rate this place...

Looks like there is a ton going on here, and it's a lot of fun.
All the interior has been traditionally kept. Which is very rare in pubs these days (gastropubs, yuck), and is great! This is a proper pub.

Read moreMy partner & I often frequent this pub on a monthly or so basis to enjoy the wonderful live music they have on offer, always good artists with performing there own material mixed in with some well rehearse covered with their own tinge. The team and team and the lady than run the pub work tiresomely and are dedicated to the cause in what is a very tough industry, especially no doubt when you are based slightly of the main stretch in a lovely residential street and all the complications that come with that.
