Waited awhile to go out for a meal due to covid and booked a table at the royal Oak & was very disappointed food was barely warm on arrival to out table also as a disabled person asked for somewhere warm as I suffer serverly with my back also have just come out of hospital after major surgery,as was very disappointed when I was told that I had to sit somewhere with no heaters & in a cramped & confined space my partner who has been a regular at this establishment for a long time was rudely dismissed & left waiting for her dessert for at least 30 minutes which was ended up being left & we also ended up leaving with our drinks in a plastic cup even though we ended up paying full price for food that was hardly edible I will be contacting higher management as not happy with the way we was treated & poor service & staff was non understanding. I feel the royal Oak has gone serverly down hill I understand due to covid conditions service is limited but that does not excuse poorly prepared food which is barely edible but you still have to pay full wack for. I warn anyone going to the royal Oak not to endure what we have been through tonight & the ambience was awful.also it was our first night out since pub Gardens reopening very dissatisfied to say the least, was a expensive night for bad...
Read moreHad driven paat for 30 years and finally agreed to meet a friend there. I ordered a pint of Pride and it was a bit flat. Then he did and it was flat too. Then he ordered one for a friend and she said barrel being changed so we said of course and asked for new pints. Sk the changed the barrel and the young barmaid slammed down one pint, obviously having no training and having no idea about thisstuff. It was still flat as was first pint off. Then she went into a strop and spoke to an older guy and they both just ignored us. Then she finally gave in and slammed another 2 down, not 3 and it was ok but i just decided to leave. I feel sorry for the barmaid as she had no training in this product and the manager didnt get involved and left her to it.Lovely pub inside and a really nice young crowd but a disgraceful way to treat 2 blokes in their 50s just trying to enjoy some music - and get what they paid for, politely. Incredible that this has a Fullers sign over the door. Will avoid for...

However.....I've been coming here for a few years now and I have to get this off my chest. For some reason, the landlord is very unwelcoming and very gruff unless it is people he knows well.
Over the past few years I've been coming in, there's been little to no acknowledgement, and when there has been, it's just an 'alright'. Even when being served food I've had 'whst do you want then' and 'made your mind up yet'.
Sometimes I still get blatantly ignored.....the staff are warm, welcoming and great at their jobs. The landlord could learn a thing or two from the people he employs and try to be a bit friendlier to customers other than his mates.
I will continue to come here as I do like it. But every time I do, I feel I don't want to give him the business!
One final note....his wife is not...
