This is the strangest place due to the menus. I can order on the website linked via Google but I cant order Baos. The QR code to order in their restaurant you can edit your Baos sauces and notes to each item. And then their App you can't do any editing of you dishes and if you put anything in the notes it doesn't come through on their system. (So if you have allergies, be careful) The girl that was serving us was lovely really helpful and apologetic. I felt sorry for her cause she then found out the sauces that they advertised on their QR menu they don't stock at this branch. (I give her 5 🌟) Overall we were quite disappointed and it was quite confusing with which thing we should use to order from. (In future just order via their counter or kiosk)
(Please sushi co sort out your ordering systems & apps)
The food we ordered was redone due to issues with QR order & allergy notes not being sent through to their system, but the food was lovely. Katsu curry very tasty the rice was alil wet & carrots overcooked but flavour was there. We ordered the Spicy chicken bao with spicy mayo very tasty and my favourite was the katus chicken bao with sweet chilli sauce really flavourful. My partner was a little disappointed that you can't order smaller portions of the sushi types like 3/4 so you can mix & match most of them are around 8 items in one style so with the price ranging from £10+ you wouldn't be able to have a variety at a comfortable price...

I came here with a friend expecting decent sushi and left completely disgusted. The rice was so overcooked it was almost shocking. Like, it wasn’t just slightly off; it was straight-up soggy and mushy. The texture was so bad it was honestly hard to even chew. It felt like someone tried to make sushi with rice meant for porridge.
We brought it up to the cashier and were told, “that’s how sushi is supposed to be,” which is absolute nonsense. Anyone who’s eaten real sushi (or any sushi; even from the grocery shop) knows that is not how it’s supposed to be. Maybe if you were making mango sticky rice on a bad day, this rice could pass, but even then, that’s a stretch.
We asked for a refund since we barely touched the dish, and instead of any kind of apology or solution, the chef offered to remake it using the exact same horrible rice. Like… what’s the point? The chef was so stubborn and defensive it was honestly embarrassing. It was pretty obvious he’s never had proper sushi in his life. Same goes for the rest of the staff.
The place was completely empty when we walked in, and now it makes total sense. This place is a joke. Huge disappointment. Never ever...
Read moreI went out for a solo dinner today, Tuesday, May 14th, 2024, taking advantage of a promotion intended to attract customers to a restaurant where I had prepaid. Living nearby, I wanted to give it a chance, especially since they offer Japanese food at a reasonable price for being located on Portobello Road. Upon arrival, the first red flag was seeing that it was completely empty, and the second was discovering that a Japanese restaurant was run by Indians and Pakistanis. Right when I arrived, a waitress approached me to ask what I wanted to eat before I had even sat down at a table or had a chance to look at the menu. I had to tell her twice to let me check the menu so I could order; I ordered Miso soup, hosomakis, and chicken teriyaki, but all the dishes were served almost cold, making it apparent that they were not freshly cooked, which was quite noticeable. I ate a bit and then got up. Out of courtesy, before leaving, I thanked them for the service, but instead of responding, they looked at each other and started laughing uproariously in my face. I don't know what they found so funny, but the service and the food were truly...
