Honest Burgers Portobello — Restaurant in London

Very disappointing. Approximative service and lack of attention. I am a huge fan of Honest Burgers and I receive emails about new burgers. Today I wanted to try the monthly special Camembert Special Beef Burger at Portobello branch. On the front door there was a signage saying that they would open at 5 PM. We waited and the staff told us to wait further more since the cook was delayed for 15 more minutes, so we did. Once inside, I ordered a Camembert Special Beef Burger without rocket and cranberry sauce. My partner ordered an Honest Beef burger without lettuce and without any other sauces. The first waitress asked us TWO TIMES if everything was correct but unfortunately the order was utterly mistaken. My Camembert was without bacon, camembert, cranbwrry sauce BUT it came with rocket. The other burger instead had lettuce on it.

We called the second waitress. She took our plates and returned in few minutes. By the time we got our plates back the chips of both burgers were cold. My partner burger was fixed, but mine was again without bacon and the cheese was chilled (like directly taken from the fridge). I simply ended up putting it in the plate and left it there. We quickly ate, leaving half of chips because of their coldness. When we payed, my partner told the staff about mistakes in my burger. The third waitress said that we could have told them straight away.

We didn't reply. If the FIRST waitress makes many mistakes in the order, and the SECOND waitress tries a quick and approximative approach to fix things, well why call again for help? The experience was totally awfull.

The staff apologized and offered to refund the cost of the coke. At least.

I went for dinner yesterday and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. First, the waiter brought over the order meant for the table next to us, and when we asked which burger was which, he had no idea. It was only thanks to the couple at the neighbouring table noticing the mix-up that we realised the food wasn’t ours.

When our actual order arrived, the staff again couldn’t tell who had ordered which burger. This was particularly important to me, as I’ve been a vegetarian for many years and had specifically ordered the Beyond Meat burger. When we asked to confirm, they reassured us twice that I had the vegetarian one. However, after a few bites I noticed there was bacon inside — clearly not what I had ordered.

When I brought this to the staff’s attention, their reaction was underwhelming — a simple “Oh sorry, can I offer you a drink?” This kind of mistake is not only careless but also completely unacceptable, especially when dietary restrictions are involved. It was deeply frustrating to see how little the team seemed to understand or care about the food they were serving.

Only when we were leaving did the manager approach us and offer a free meal. He was very understanding and polite, which I appreciated — but the overall experience was chaotic and concerning. It’s unacceptable that the waitstaff couldn’t identify the dishes or take proper care with customer orders, especially those involving dietary requirements.

Incredible! As in im incredilous about my recent experience.

First of, honest is my favourite burger joint - great burgers for a reasonable (london) price.

But today I sat down with no literally no server there for the first couple of minutes. No big deal, they must be busy downstairs i thought.

Except a couple of minutes later the short sassy Hispanic waitress with the honest staff shirt walks up to me, pretends not to hear and see me then sits down opposite me right next to the till.

I'm just staring at her in disbelief but then a delivery man walks in and ask her if the food is ready. She again tries to pretend like there is literally anyone else in a five meter radius but he is not having it.

So she pulls out her earpods and tells him she is on break cant he see she has her earpods in ?

Mate if your sat there in your staff shirt next to the till you better have a flashing yellow neon sign saying your on break.

What on earth ? Am I old ? Is this what sassy is now ? God I hope not. Pardon my early midlife crisis.

So the uber driver walked away in disgust and I was served by her colleagues who were both downstairs for some reason a few minutes later.

Anyway turned out she was the supervisor because ofcourse she was. The monthly special BBQ burger was...
