The food and beverages are modern and of a good standard, although I was told that they do not offer chips as it would up TSS' costs in terms of insurance; as I prefer healthier and lighter meals, such as the homemade Fish Fingers, this is not at all problem for me: but it does seem odd for a cafe of this type not to have chips on the menu but crisps instead. The chef and serving staff put in a lot of effort, and generally listen, accommodate and provide a high level of customer service; after reviews from years ago that were the opposite of mine in that regard, TTS has got it right over this, showing it is capable of active listening and response. However, both from the past reviews I have read and currently, the owner undoes all of this by being angry, blameful, obnoxious and downright rude to customers, as I note not just from those previous reviews, but also due to the fact I have experienced it. He told me I cannot come there and use it as an office even though he knows I spend money and that he is quite happy for me to visit and do that. He then went on to continue to rant at me by falsely blaming me for TTS not being able to accommodate customers during that day's lunchtime because I was at a table that would have been cramped for four people. If he had bothered to ascertain the facts, the truth was that a couple seated directly adjacent to my table waited at least 45 minutes for their breakfast to be cooked, that was then served in the mid-afternoon, because the chef could not keep up with the lunchtime in-dining demand as one of the waitresses informed another potential customer - this same problem is referenced in another past review. This meant that a couple who expressed a desire to dine in were turned away and said they would go to the pub instead and return for a coffee. If any of the staff or the owner himself had noticed, as I did, that this breakfasting couple finished whilst the two that were turned away were still waiting to cross at the Zebra Crossing outside, they could have called them back to take the table. I almost did this myself but thought that it's not my job to and the staff should have been more observant. During his rant at me, which was upsetting because he was clearly not just peeved but angry, the owner even dictated that I had to sit at one of the very small tables for two the next time I visit and whenever I do; this was despite the fact that when I first came in that afternoon, there was a gentleman that was consuming a beverage using a four table for a protracted period of time, when it was fairly busy because customers were coming in and out: plus there was a woman that came in just a couple of minutes after me who was on the sofa - that has two accompanying chairs and so is seating for six at a fair-sized table - for consecutive hours with just one friend, and they only ordered three drinks between them for the entire duration of their stay; whereas I ordered two lots of food and drinks for myself during the entire number of hours that those two were in situ. He therefore had the audacity to compound this situation by complaining to me that there were many customers that, if it were not for me making it impossible to accommodate them, would have, as separate customers, all ordered so much more food than me during my time there; and wrongly blamed me for these absolutely phantom customers not doing so. Furthermore, the table seating is far too close together and cramped and consequently there is no social distancing possible when it starts to get busier; and this is not acceptable in terms of Covid-19 health and safety measures that should be in place. On this same third or fourth visit of mine, the owner vociferously discouraged my use of TTS' Wi-Fi (and from another review I saw also a mobile phone conversation if you look like you have been there working on another device); i.e. on anything he accuses customers of undertaking for office use. The single toilet would be virtually impossible to access for wheelchair users requiring assistance to move from chair to...
Read moreI am not one to write reviews but I felt so disappointed coming here I just had to!
I have eaten in this cafe many times and I've always enjoyed the food, I have not had any issues. HOWEVER I will not be returning here (although I live just 2 minute walk away) I came in with my two young children one Sunday afternoon, we arrived at 12 but by the time we had chosen our food it was 12.10. My daughter really wanted the French toast but we was told this was not possible as the menu it is on has 'stopped' at 12 due to there being two separate menus and the kitchen couldn't keep up with that! I understand if it was busy but there was only us and a few other people (who were already eating) , it was only french toast for a small child! - Bad Customer Service!
Brilliant customer service- We decided to leave, we went to Saucy Sausage in the high street, where we ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream, but they had no whipped cream.(This was absolutely fine, just as happy with a plain hot chocolate) The staff member took it upon himself and went out of his way to the shops next door to buy cream and Marshmallows to give it that little bit extra! This is my eyes is brilliant customer service and what it is all about.
I will not be returning to the tram stop cafe which is a shame as I've been taking my family...
Read moreNot a bad place to eat though in light of the greasy spoon type cafes in the area, they stand out (like the one-eyed man leading the blind) A senior staff member stood by my table having an inappropriate conversation with her friend, which seems to sum this place up - could do better! Why chat to friends in full public view while leaving service of the whole cafe to one member of staff and a trainee on the coffee machine? Better service, decent coffee and this little shack would appeal to a wider demographic. As for my cooked breakfast, I felt the charge was high given that i was served rock hard bacon and a sausage that gave the knife a hard time. Tasty but disappointing. When I pay good money for food, I'd like good food please. The food quality seems to vary cook to cook in this place and consistently good would be my preference as a...
