AVOID THE WOODFORD BAR & GRILL AT ALL COSTS!! This is a dangerous and awful place to spend your time.

A close friend of mine was spiked here on 26th Oct 2024. It was the worse experience I have ever been through or witnessed. The matter has been reported to the police and is being investigated.

She was spiked by a member of staff, as the waiter in a mask was the only one handling our drinks and carried them to our table. This was the only time my eyes was not on our drinks. I watched the bartender pour and make our drinks and he did not tamper with them. It was not a busy Saturday night, there was not many people in there and no one apart from the waiter was around us. We never left our drinks alone either.

She had one cocktail and 30 minutes later was out of it. She was vomitting, couldn't speak, eyes rolling back in her head, she had no control over her body. Her body floppy and lifeless and she could not keep her head up unaided. She couldn't stand or walk at all, it took three people just to hold her up because she was that lifeless. One drink does not get you in this state, it was completely not normal. I tried to give her water and she couldn't even have control to drink it, like she didn't know how to swallow. She seemed paralysed in her own body and her eye pupils were dilated and not in focus.

The staff were exceptionally rude and did not want to help us at all. They were rude how they spoke to us and kept saying to us "to get her home as she has had too much to drink". This was not drunk this was a substance spiking. The security guard and one bar lady was the only staff who was helpful and stayed with us, trying to help. The management and other staff were very snobby, rude and dismissive. Awful service, I wish we saw the other bad reviews under all reviews on google and avoided this bar that night.

I pray no one else ever has to experience this as it was disgusting and traumatising. Although my friend is okay physically now, mentally she is not okay. This has affected her for life and no longer trusts staff to serve her...

An awful Friday night spent at Slug & Lettuce in South Woodford!

For some groups a total number of 8-10 people on one table during pandemic is completely fine (as in the options while initially booking a table). If security does not like you then you have to stay at maximum of 6 (they will tell you that at least an hour after being seated, when they see you have already ordered); If staff is bored, they may make you to move tables several times. Reasons may vary as they would tell you to choose a table if you come early on (then the table you leave will not be taken, that is should they tell you a specific group that is outside needs to take it); When you greet your friends on the table you will be told not to stay up and just sit down, even if you keep your distance from everyone else and you are up for a minute Nobody wears masks, not bar staff, nor waiters, especially not security as they continuously go around the whole place through the whole night None of the customers wear a mask while walking from their table to toilet/bar/garden. Should security decide, they will deliberately start a fight while you are seated, because they earlier saw you not wearing a mask. They will not ask you if you are exempt or not (according to staff, all security members were exempt) After all of this waiters will just 'not see you' for a long while as you try to order As you end up raising awareness about all issues with staff, they will not say their names, they will claim the manager is upstairs being really busy so they cannot make him come to hear you out You will end up leaving as your night is ruined

Wished I could put 0 stars as they are well NOT deserved. Staff should be probably all looked into for this business not to end up being sued for racism, harassment etc etc.

People should be better treated, food is definitely not tasting fine and be careful with...

If I could give none- I would.

My disabled dad and I visited your branch for my 22nd birthday dinner. While my dad was outside, I asked the bar if they accepted cash as it was our preference for the evening and they just looked bewildered. I then mentioned I had a booking and he called someone over to seat us. He walked us over to a table before saying it was reserved for someone else. He changed his mind about moving us and we sat ready to order. There was no menu or sauces on the table so we had to get them ourselves. When we were ready to order we waited for about 10 minutes and no one even looked our way. I asked the bar if we had to order there and he sent someone to us to take it. When we ordered the waiter returned twice saying we had to order something else as they didn’t have it, which was no issue with myself and my dad. It was when he placed our drinks down he asked us to pay for the bill upfront and we both couldn’t help feel judged for being in there. It came across that they felt we couldn’t pay and wanted to ensure we didn’t walk out. When the food arrived after us making payment we barely finished it as we felt so uncomfortable, with no one checking on us the entire time. From the moment we went in to when we left, it was probably one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Me and my dad felt inadequate and couldn’t wait to leave. As I went to get the car he told me the security guard made a comment about him having dinner with a younger girl- when he then informed him I was his daughter.

Very...

The Woodford Bar and Grill is located just a ten-minute walk from South Woodford Station and is conveniently situated near busy bus routes. The decor is vibrant and appealing, particularly attracting a younger crowd with features like music, cocktails, and a pool table. The bar also functions as a restaurant, serving food that focuses on a blend of grilled items and American-style fast food. While the food is generally well-cooked, it tends to be a bit heavy on the salt. The drinks are decent, but the cocktails could use improvement, as they lack strong flavor and alcohol content. The service is acceptable, though the servers can sometimes become easily distracted. As a new establishment in the area, the venue is attempting to cater to an older demographic by using marketing tactics that involve scantily dressed women, which has not proven to be an effective strategy. This dual approach seems to create some confusion as it tries to appeal to both younger and older audiences. Furthermore, the Woodford Bar and Grill faces strong competition from a well-established pub nearby, which is more popular among locals. With a clearer identity and better understanding of its target market, the bar could potentially stand out more. For now, the overall experience remains average.

The service wasn’t the worst however considering it was very quiet and only had 2 tables eating, I’d hate to imagine how slow it would be during a busy period. The man behind the bar was on his phone for 80% of our time there, didn’t bother to ask if we wanted anymore drinks and wasn’t even the one to take plates, the chef did. Despite that we still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Food was cooked beautifully and tasted amazing. I love the fact that the chef himself brought us the food, he is so lovely and really knows his stuff. He was very friendly and informative, the chef is the best part about this place. And service would of been better if the chef had just done it himself, he was the one who asked if everything was okay with food, he was also the one to ask if we would like any more sauces, he was also the one who offered us deserts. The chef is amazing. Would definitely eat here again if the bar staff improve.

Attended to try their 3 mocktails as very few places in the area offer the alternative to alcohol, unfortunately they weren’t the most pleasant, the apple, mint and lime however was particularly nice minus the overuse of ice rendering most of the drink watered out undrinkable mush, the raspberry fizz was bland in taste but overly sharp in carbonates. The atmosphere was quiet for a Tuesday evening but lacked in cozy welcoming surrounding amongst the cobwebbed corners and dusty picture frames, more of a weekend slosh bar than an a cozy drink in.
