London Garden Rooms — Local services in London

Short version: An amazing team who exceeded our expectations from start to finish. Their attention to detail is off the scale. We couldn’t be happier with the finished result.

Long version: We started the process of looking for extra space in our home in the middle of lockdown. We found Steven from London Garden Rooms and loved the idea that they take care of everything in the garden and not just the garden room itself. We chatted online, we sent pictures and sketches to each other and developed some ideas. That was all we could do, there were no site visits allowed and so on.

Even though this was the case there was no pressure from Steven to move fast, or to do things a certain way. He was a pleasure to work with and clearly a very experienced creative person where nothing was a problem or issue.

The fact that Steven designed the whole outside space turned out to be hugely important. We didn’t have a lot of space and the house and garden (a typical Victorian Terrace) were at slightly different angles to each other. Steven and his team (Will and Josh –– both rockstars) did magical things so that visually, everything is perfectly aligned. The house to the garden and into the garden room flows beautifully.

Everything was designed before we started, there were however a few occasions where the guys had to solve problems on the spot which they did with such professionalism. This was mainly due to the fact that some of the early design decisions we made were decided upon without a site visit as we were locked down I hasten to add.

My wife and I (and all our jealous friends and family) couldn’t be happier with the outcome. We are both very particular and also work in the creative industries, so our expectations were very high. We cannot fault anything and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Steven also introduced us to Peter Cartwright –– another expert in his field who designed what plants to have and where they should go. The planting plan is stunning and has elevated the whole outdoor space again. Thank you Peter (and son).

The craft that the whole team put into our project was second to none. We actually missed Will and Josh not being around the house on a daily basis and that says a lot about the type of people they are. Also a shout out to Luke (electrician) and Wayne (tiler).

London Garden Rooms have just finished completing our garden room and we absolutely love what they've done. From the outset when getting quotes from different companies, Steven's knowledge and experience really stood and out and we were assured that we would be in good hands with LGR. Nothing was too much trouble and Steven provided a flexible end to end service, arranging clearance of our garden prior to installation of the room.

Oliver took care of our build and he was great to have onsite, managing the build alongside our other building works that we were doing. He made sure to check with us at various stages that we were happy i.e. decking, storage door etc. LGR were also very accommodating with the various changes during the design stage (sorry Steven!) and made sure that everything was done to our satisfaction. Even after completion, Steven has been back to check we're happy with everything. Luke the electrician was also brilliant in helping install an air conditioning unit which was definitely not straightforward.

We luckily had our garden room built in 2018 (so the room is a 3 year vintage and still looks like new), so we were well settled in for 2020 lockdown. The team at London Garden Rooms gave great advice going in, the build out went to plan and things were done professionally. The build was solid and the money we paid reflected the quality. The most important aspect is that any snags were dealt with by the team. They did not just disappear which is a great peace of mind. Best advice we took was to do the extra meter of length - we ended up with a huge room, with bathroom and shower with a connected garage area. Many garden rooms I have see end up as white elephants, but if you are willing to invest and get a high quality build, it adds loads of sq footage to your house.
