Saturday lunch at wagamama in Stratford mall ! The staff looked tired and lacked enthusiasm from the time we stepped in queue waiting to be seated. All the staff were busy running around but none of them seemed to make eye contact and none had a smile on their face. They looked overworked and stressed. We were led to the booth inside the restaurant and given menus to go through. Once we made up our minds, it took a lot of looking around to find someone who would make eye contact so that they could come to our table to take the order. Finally, Ms Mariamma, saw us waiting and took our orders. She repeated the order to make sure she got it all correct and then proceeded to mark our table mats with the numbers of our main course. The food was cooked well, upto what we would think wagamama standards. But when they got us our drinks, one of the servers had his sleeve dipped into the drink on the table and he then scurried off with that wet sleeve to another table. This was quite a put down. I also noticed that most had the dark green Tshirts; some were half sleeves while some full sleeved. Unfortunately, we were one of those to have our drinks tainted with the sleeves of the person that served us. We then wanted to get the drink replaced, which again took quite sometime to get the attention of many of the staff running around the restaurant. Finally, a gentleman who was speaking to the table in front of us, saw us and o explained the issue. He too seemed shocked, apologized and then proceeded to get us a fresh new drink. This incident did thwart our appetite, but we did finish most of our lunch orders. I would like to ask the management to work with their staff to improve the serving conditions and general service attitude.

Came to the restaurant during a slightly busier time, but managed to get a seat quite quickly. The waitress was very friendly, and very attentive throughout the duration of our stay. I also loved how she joked with us from time to time. The ambiance was also very relaxed, the lighting quite dim and warm and even though there was a few children running around, the wait staff were very friendly towards them - it was quite lovely to see! I ordered the Sakura Blossom Lemonade which had floating rose petals on top. I found the drink to be quite sweet (and at one point I accidentally swallowed one of the petals), but it also went quite well with the Shirodashi Pork Belly Ramen I chose for my meal. The pork itself was succulent, the accomodating vegetables well prepared, the tea-stained egg was beautifully soft boiled, and the ramen noodles very filling. The broth however did have quite a kick to it, but overall it went well with the rest of the dish. I was with my youngest sibling who ordered the Katsu Curry, who delighted in the fact that the curry wasn't too spicy - but not too mild either - and who also had freshly pressed orange juice. My mother went with the Miso-glazed cod ramen, along with complimentary Green Tea - which she absolutely adored. However, she found the ramen a bit too spicy and requested water from our waitress. Our waitress on the other hand suggested milk to ease the spice, and what do you know? It worked like a charm. I'd only ever been to this Wagamama once before a few years ago, and I can honestly say I'd absolutely love to come back again - though I'm not entirely sure I'll be ordering the Sakura Blossom Lemonade again.

I’m a fan of the Wagamama chain, but this was by a long way the worst experience I’ve had in one of their restaurants. It seems from other reviews here, I’m not the only one who thinks this place is well below par for the course. Our experience got off to a poor start when we arrived and waited patiently to be seated, when the lady who should have been greeting us avoided eye contact with us for an uncomfortably long time. She ignored us as she idly shuffled the menus at her desk and then when she did eventually decide that she wanted to do her job, she didn’t even make eye contact or say hello, but just told us to follow her, walked us over to a table and then turned around without saying anything and walked back to where she was. When did customer service get so poor? Not even the bare minimum of greeting customers or even looking at them is being met now? Shameful. When we sat down we noticed the table was very sticky and later noticed that they were not being wiped down at all when diners left. Again, really poor standards. I must say that the food itself was as good as it always is. The hoisin duck bao buns, chilli squid and the gochujang chicken donburi were all delicious so kudos to the chefs. I’m happy to report that at least someone does their job in this place. However, we did get through almost the entire meal before our drinks arrived (after a couple of polite reminders). We came here on a Friday night to relax, and enjoy the start of our weekend with some good food. That wish was ruined by the sheer laziness and poor attitude towards work of the staff here. Overall, a really disappointing dining experience.

I have really enjoyed visits to Wagamama over the years because of their friendly staff, quick service and decent food, but this experience at the Stratford branch has completely put me off ever returning. It was the most disappointing and frustrating experience I have had by far.

No one came to take our order - we had to get the attention of one of the waiters to do so, which proved difficult despite the Stratford branch having a very large number of staff (none of whom seem to want to do their job). It was another long wait before 1 dish arrived (almost half an hour). Then, it was another long wait with no drink or food coming out. We had to flag down one of the waiters to ask what was going on and if they could check on our order. Eventually, the drinks came and the remainder of the dishes, but when they arrived, they had got the order wrong and given us an extra starter. When we told them the order was wrong, the waitress said we could have it on the house.

The food arrived lukewarm. Wagamama staff always talk about how all food is cooked fresh to order and each dish is brought out as soon as it’s ready, but it seemed like these dishes had been sitting on the side for a while. The standard of food at this Wagamama is worse than a lot of other branches I’ve been to, so I would avoid this one at all costs.

When it came to paying the bill, we tried doing it using the QR code system, but the bill was wrong as they had charged us for the extra starter (which was supposed to be on the house). We had to ask a waiter to amend the bill. He went to the computer to make the change and said it had been amended. However when we checked again, there was no change. As we could not get the attention of another waiter, we had to go up to them at the till point to explain the situation again.

The staff didn’t seem to be interested in serving their customers - it was almost as if customers were a nuisance to them. There was also only 1 girl at the bar making up the drinks orders and doing so very slowly.

On top of all of this, this branch seems to do a lot of business through online food delivery apps - there was a constant stream of delivery drivers walking through the restaurant and standing around and hanging out next to the kitchen, scrolling on their phones which really spoils the ambience.

The size of the kitchen and the number of chefs is too small to have all these takeaway orders being made as well as serving a full restaurant. The quality of the food and the service suffers terribly. I hope Wagamama management take note of this and work...

I came into Wagamama Stratford after the cinema expecting the usual good food and service I’ve experienced at other locations — and even from this one on past visits. Sadly, this time was a complete letdown.

The staff seemed completely disinterested and visibly miserable, as if they didn’t want to be there at all. While our order was taken quickly, our drinks — including a simple tap water I’d asked for urgently — took an unreasonably long time to arrive.

When the food came, although it looked fine, the quality was appalling. The beef brisket gyoza tasted like it had no beef at all. The beef bao had meat, but the buns were stale and tough. The chicken and prawn tempura was greasy and flavourless — my girlfriend literally said she could do better at home.

My miso soup didn’t arrive with the rest of the food. When I asked the waiter, he didn’t apologise or check — just asked if I’d paid yet, then said “I’ll keep an eye on it.” Ten minutes later, still nothing. When I went to the bar to follow up, the staff — who had been chatting and laughing — suddenly went cold and avoided eye contact, responding with, “Where are you sitting? Oh… do you still want it?” I said yes, and they said they’d check. No apology, and when it finally came, it was bitter, tasteless, and lukewarm.

The peach iced tea was also awful — watery, warm, and completely flat.

We overheard two other tables complaining too. One group’s food was so delayed that they had to leave, even after the manager got involved. Another table was served undercooked food.

Shockingly, there were plenty of staff and not many customers, so the poor service and food can’t be blamed on being busy. The manager seemed more focused on packing Deliveroo orders than ensuring the dining-in guests had a good experience.

For a £40 meal, I expected far more — especially from a brand I usually trust. I’ve been to this branch before and enjoyed it, but after this visit I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The food was awful, the service even worse, and the whole atmosphere felt like...

This was by far the worst wagmama experience for me. Got there at 18:45 Seated by 18:47 Ordered about 18:50 The food arrived about 19:05 but could tell the food was already ready for a bit as when it arrived it was just like warm. The worst experience were the drinks. By the time we were half way through our spicy food we had the drinks still had not arrived after requesting it for 3 times to the staff there. It was only the peach iced team and a coke zero. I requested the staff to please get us the drinks 3 times after we ordered but each time they seem to disappear. We did see one of them go to the bar then they the got drinks for the people who were sitting next to us who arrived about 25 mins after us. It was weird that the staff who took our order and the staff who brought our food when I told them me and my Mrs. Has been waiting for drinks for half an hour now and they said I'll be right back and just disappeared. They didn't even bother to check back on us eve after that saw out table didn't have any drinks after asking for the 3rd time. Finally got drinks after we were almost done with the food about 19:20, they apologised to us saying the order didn't go through correctly but hey, after repeating the drinks order for the 4th time surely you would bring the drinks to us first and the deal with that later right? I even asked for just tap water while we wait for our drinks at one point and even that went unnoticed. Wagmama service anywhere else has been on point so far, I'm not bothered much if the order was wrong or something but I'm thirsty and need a drink, surely anyone else would be upset too after waiting over half an hour for a drink right? This is my personal experience from tonight and hopefully a one off that no one else has...
