Visiting Venue 5 was like taking a flavourful journey through India's culinary heritage! This restaurant showcases the diversity and richness of Indian cuisine with incredible authenticity and flair. Here’s a breakdown of the experience:
Ambience The decor reflects traditional Indian artistry with a touch of modern elegance. From warm lighting to intricate wall art, the setting immediately sets the stage for an immersive dining experience. Great music on a Saturday night from the DJ too!
Appetizers We started with the classic lamb samosas, special paneer and chicken lollipop. The samosas were delightfully crisp, with a spiced meat filling that balanced heat and flavour perfectly. The chicken lollipop was juicy and infused with a smoky char, complemented by a tangy yogurt dip. The special paneer had it's own special spices which made it taste so good.
Main Courses The karahi lamb curry was bold and beautifully balanced, with tender pieces of lamb and a sauce that had the perfect amount of heat. The spices were just right, allowing the flavours to develop with each bite. Paired with garlic naan, it was truly indulgent.
Breads and Sides The garlic naan was fresh and pillowy, perfect for scooping up the sauces. The peshwari naan was fluffy and coconutty. The pulao rice was fragrant, with just the right amount of seasoning.
Desserts We finished with gulab jamun and a malteser cheesecake. The gulab jamun was warm and sweet, with a soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture, while the cheesecake was creamy, refreshing, and a perfect end to the meal.
Service The staff specifically Thrushali was attentive, knowledgeable about the dishes, and happy to make recommendations based on our preferences. Each course arrived with perfect timing, and the servers explained the ingredients and origins, which added to the experience.
Value for Money Given the quality and portion sizes, the pricing felt reasonable. Venue 5 manages to balance authenticity with a touch of creativity, making it worth every penny.
Overall Impression Venue 5 offers a fantastic representation of Indian cuisine, where quality ingredients, skilled preparation, and attention to detail come together. It’s an ideal spot for both those new to Indian food and seasoned enthusiasts. Highly recommended for anyone craving a memorable...
Read moreI went there for the X-mas party organised by my employer on 1st Dec 23. There are a few staff who are vegetarian. The starter was served on our tables. Two of my colleagues and I were at the same table. We are strictly vegetarian. We asked the waitress THREE TIMES about a dish which was like meatballs in appearance and the other dish was mogo chips. We categorically asked her, if the other dish was vegetarian and she confidently confirmed that it was a vegetarian dish. After taking a bite we looked at each other with eyes wide open and perhaps were asking each other if the dish was vegetarian. My colleague went off the table and asked another waiter and he stated that it was LAMB MEATBALLs.
No need to go into any more details and one can easily understand what went through our heads. It is like serving pork to a Muslim or adding garlic and onion to a dish and serving to a Jain. The waitress did not have the courtesy to come and apologise. When the manager was called she apologised. The damage was done.
How on earth all the waiters and waitresses are not on the same page when out serving? Imagine if you are allergic to some ingredient and have an anaphylaxis shock or die, as we have witnessed these and cases have landed in the High Court and Supreme Court.
These people do not understand the religious sanctity or the seriousness of the situation. It would have been better, if the first waitress could have said, " I am sorry, let me go and check". It is better to be 100% sure before opening your mouth. If I was the manager or owner, I would have fired that waitress and set an example for others.
We have to be baptised again. I am sure not going to this place again in future.
Will this post change anything from the management perspective, NOT REALLY. As they say, Black will take no other hue.
Thank you for taking the...
Read moreWorst customer service I have ever received in a restaurant. I’m writing this review as I contacted the restaurant directly regarding my concerns and received no response.
• Took so long to originally order food and drink. We were sitting at the table for ages with nothing, not even a drink while we wait. The waitress even came over to serve the table next to us a few times and didn’t even acknowledge us, completely walked past us multiple times. We had to shout her over as she was walking away so we could order food and drinks. • Took a very long time for food to come. • Didn’t clear our starter plates and chucked our new main plates at the end of the table for us to place ourselves like it was a buffet. And I noticed she never done that with both the tables either side of us. • Missed items off our order and the waitress was arguing that we never ordered it in the first place rather than just apologising (the whole table heard me order the correct items). • It was my friend’s birthday so I went up to ask another waitress if she could bring out a dessert with a candle and she said yes, and nothing was brought out, so we didn’t get the chance to sing happy birthday to my friend. • We then asked for our left overs to take away and we were given the takeaway containers to pack ourselves at the table in the middle of the restaurant, which isn’t a very pleasant experience. • We had to go up to the bar to pay our bill after waiting ages for the waitress to come back with the card machine. Once we were at the bar trying to pay, she came over to us and just said she was coming. Again, no apology.
I understand it gets extremely busy, and these things happen, but a bit of acknowledgement would have made a massive difference in this situation. instead, we just received rude,...
