I came across the restaurant on the Gov website as one of many restaurants of Eat out to Help Out Scheme and decided to reserve a table for my wife and my 5 year old daughter. We ordered 2 mains, 1 starter and 3 non-alcoholic drinks. Don't get me wrong, the food is great, but the bill experience was horrendous - my bill was £55 and no deduction (despite it being a Monday). The waitress was oblivious and had to speak to the manager as he was handling the bill. When the bill came again, it was now £35. I told the waitress it should be £27.50 and I was told I need to go to the bar and speak to the manager to resolve it. I was then told by the manager that the discount is only applied if you order a main. A main?! I showed the Gov guidance on my phone and it's as follows:
Use the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme at a participating establishment: -to get a 50% discount on food or non-alcoholic drinks to eat or drink in (up to a maximum of £10 discount per diner) -every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 3 and 31 August -as many times as you like
I highlighted to the manager that it doesn't state a "main" on the Gov. website and it clearly states "per diner". However, I was told by the manager that the franchise states the discount is activated once a main has been ordered and if you order just starters, no discount is applied. I'm sorry, but this is pure BS! It's not so much about the £7.50 difference, it's more about the principle in place and they have just lost a customer. I'm not impressed at all! Beware guys!
P.S. It's funny how you billed me £55 but 2 minutes later, you "know" all about the Eat Out to Help Out scheme when slapping me with the £35...
Read moreExcellent food and service. Nice to have such a great restaurant locally.
Edit. What a difference time makes.
My first visit was brilliant, My second and third visits show a restaurant that's forgotten where it came from. The only thing that saves this place is the quality of food. It was just a shame that service for the food was non-existent. Cold meze came up, took three attempts in 45 minutes to get the bread. Fast forward another 45 minutes, still no main meals. Nothing extraordinary, sharer platter, and 2 shish kebabs. It took so long to get our food, in the end was, past being hungry and took it home.
When we complained, the person I took to be the mananger said he had been watching our table and was aware of the delay. If that was the case, why did we have to point out we hadn't had our food for over an hour and a half?! Why did he not act sooner? Why did we have to complain?!
Now I get when a restaurant is busy, service can be delayed but it wasn't that busy, other tables came and went whilst we sat chatting, the drink was flowing well, still had to keep asking for drinks though, and then to top it we where given the bill before we'd even asked for it, almost as though they wanted us out!
And when we did get the bill, the compensation for our wasted time, a round of free drinks. Whilst I appreciate the gesture, I now have a takeaway box full of food that was bought and paid for, and that's probably not going to get eaten.
Was it worth £260 for 4 people? No, it wasn't.
Others have had a brilliant time here, but my last three visits have been poor and overpriced. Do I give it another chance, I...
Read moreGreat food, but the service was diabolical.
There were four of us. My husband and I had been before and loved it, so we thought we'd bring our friends, however we were embarassed by how many times we had to ask for things.
We asked 3 times for the bottle of wine we could see was left on top the bar. After the 3rd ask they commented that they wanted to know how many glasses we needed. Again there were four of us, god forbid they bring 4 glasses when only two were necessary. On top of this we asked for some tap water. They brought two glasses. Did I mention there were four of us? Haha it was funny to be honest.
Problem is the food is soo good so when we received our bread before our meze, we ate it all! So we asked for more bread and it didn't come. So what did we do?! we ended up eating the meze by double dipping with our forks!
Great platter, the meat was delicious.
Funny how prompt our waiter was to take our payment but was no where to be seen when we were staring longingly at our wine. He also hung around for a tip which made us chuckle.
Makes me understand why there were so many people...
