Cafe Rose — Restaurant in Maidstone

Reminds me of Tom Brown's in Benidorm. The food is awful. The chips look like they've been quadrouple fried (or from leftovers) The English breakfast is one of the worst I've been served. I don't get why many cafes decide to ruin a breakfast with those cheap long brown chip shop sausages (not even pork). If they stepped up the game and bought better ingredients then they might just see the benefit of better custom (try adding a Cumberland to the dish instead of that horridness) I'm guessing the owners don't want to pay the extra for any sort of quality which is understandable.

If you treat it for what it is, Rose Cafe is the perfect place to fuel up for a day in Maidstone. It's not a silver service establishment, you aren't going to get froise grois and croissants in there, but what it does it does extremely well - good, honest, hearty English breakfasts. They do other stuff too, just my experience is limited to the early morning meals. The staff are polite and friendly and very attentive. Be warned though, if you ask for a Big Breakfast, that's what you get, be prepared to sweat a little and not go anywhere for half an hour after...

Large breakfast with chips instead of hash browns ( my preference ) mug of tea £10.70 . Not the best but not the worst I've had . Catering sausages do let it down and a sea of beans lol. I think if they stepped up the quality of the ingredients I'd happily pay more for good quality proper butcher's sausages. The beans were salty I dnt know why as I didn't season my breakfast. Staff were friendly and service was good . Its seems to be popular with regular customers. 3 stars for the food and 5 for service...
