I have sung many times in All Saints, Maidstone as a member of Maidstone Choral Union. It is the main church for the county town of Kent and full of history. Yesterday I was privileged to take part in a carol service of remembrance held by the Dignity group to honour all those who died in the previous year. Seating is traditional wooden pews which can be uncomfortable after a time and there are just two unisex toilets in a separate building across the church yard. Hot drinks are served from the kitchenette at the back of the church. Extensive restoration took place at the end of the 19th century. The ceilings, ornate screens and striking wall paintings in the chancel date from this period, and were awaiting restoration at the time of my visit.
