Update August 2025 Our waiter Leslie was courteous and professional who served us a great breakfast which was presented very well. Only grippes was the toast could have been done a bit longer and air conditioning needs to be installed as it gets very warm inside on hot days. Update June 2025 Sorry to winge, but please train your staff to attend to customer's as priority before emptying the dishwasher, it's frustrating watching someone emptying the machine while there are three people waiting at the bar to be served. We had a great evening, food was very nice and service was exemplary. Update May 2025 Another great meal and service with 40% off. Update January 2025 Evening menu covers a multitude of taste and is of a better quality than previously found here. The restaurant was very busy as they had a 50% off promotion. I felt the tables were a little bit too close to each other, as I could have easily been part of the conversation to the adjacent table. Staff here work very hard to keep up with all unending stream of guests while special promotions are on. Update March 2024 Prices have gone up again, normal breakfast and unlimited tea now over £10 also it is not possible now to substitute chips for hash browns. Update December 2023 Had a decent breakfast, with poached eggs cooked to perfection. Service was quick and friendly. Update May 2023 WEB booking times for breakfast are not the same as the restaurant, 11:45 latest for breakfast on the Web, 11:30 in restaurant. Good service from staff, meal good quality and we'll presented, could have been warmer though. Update February 2023 Had to remove a star. Greeting staff not familiar with Harvester advertised meal times, we had to prove we were correct, a simple sorry would have been nice. Breakfast was OK but could have been warmer. Not sure why they have hazard tape around some table feet. Update late November 2022, Evening meal, just after finishing our main course we were asked to move tables to make way for a group of 12, had to remove 1 star for this. Food and service was fine. Update 10/11/2022 As usual a great quality breakfast and fantastic service. Plus a 25% off voucher. Normally a great place for a late breakfast/brunch.

BREAKFAST: Total cost for two breakfast £22.95. 1 Unlimited with steak and 1 Unlimited without steak plus two coffees. 9am start. Informed no pancakes. Staff very polite.. The unlimited breakfast is table service only NOT unlimited help yourself. No coffee with breakfast either. Latte is also not included on unlimited coffee option, I had to ask about this so be aware its more expensive. You have to pre-empt that you may want more with your order, which will probably contribute to a large amounts of food waste. I ordered unlimited with steak medium. Ordered at 9.05am. Order came at 9.23, very quick. Sausages are lincolnshire type, not meaty, would assume Brakes/kff cheaper flavoured sausages, quite disappointed in the quality here. Bacon thin and unsmoked, cooked OK, fat wasn't crispy. Mushrooms taste kind of boiled rather than fried or grilled. Hash browns are thick and decent flavour/crunch, slightly under cooked for me. Steak (extra 2.99) was alright and cooked to medium, no seasoning. Heinz beans are just that, eggs stacked on top of each other and in between runny and hard, Black pudding is thick cut and not slow cooked in butter, flash fried. Verdict, looked amazing but quality below par. OK but wouldn't make the effort to visit again.

The Running Horse in Maidstone is a long established Harvester restaurant. Large dining area which has been refitted not so long ago. We love the salad cart which is unlimited and has loads of toppings, sauces and various bread rolls. One of us had a chicken burger and the other a flatbread filled with Cajun rubbed chicken, both came with fries Our food was hot and came out in good time. Our waitress was friendly and has been on the staff for years so knows her job very well. Our meals with soft drinks came to less than £25. There was a lunchtime menu on offer to buy it's limited. Sadly the famous Early Bird 🐦 offer is no more. There is access for mobility impaired. A few parking spaces out front and the main parking area across a busy road so care is needed. There is a garden with tables but it was raining hard so I didn't get a really good look.

I came here with my wife and son to celebrate a birthday. Upon ordering drinks I was asked to provide ID, which I didn't have. I understand the waiter was "doing her job" as she said, however it came as a shock as I've not been asked for ID for many years, especially when out with my family. I did not have ID to hand, therefore I was refused drinks. This completely ruined the night for me, but I understand the waitress' viewpoint. This isn't the issue, just an annoyance.

Where we were sitting there were an awful lot of tiny flies, one ended up in our drinks which we had to ask to be replaced. They were also all over the food and we kept having to wave them away. It felt very unhygienic.

When it came to ordering, we have asked for a nachos as a starter, we were told they didn't have any.. We then asked for a ribeye steak for mains, which they also didn't have. Nowhere was it made clear what they have and don't have, I don't understand why these items are still on the menu then.

Lastly, I've asked for a glass of water but this was never brought out to me. I waited 10-15 minutes and then asked a different waitress who again forgot to bring it out to me... I waited another 10 minutes, made eye contact with the waitress who then realized they forgot my water. She came back and said "Sorry i thought this was already brought out to you".

It was supposed to be a positive / celebratory night for us but it felt ruined by the service here. I think if we had a different waitress we wouldn't have had half the issues. We came away very disappointed, and will not be coming back here.

I will note that the food was very good though, kudos...

Had family birthday meal. Waited 25 mins for order to be taken and bowl given. At salad bar, sections were empty or very low and we were only able to fill our bowls half full. The bread roll section had a few rolls in it and didn't get refilled. We waited another 25 mins for our food to arrive. I ordered medium rare ribeye steak. It was very tough and chewy. The chips were dry and overcooked and I was very disappointed with my meal. It was not a treat I was so looking forward to on my birthday. I then went back to the unlimited free salad only to be disappointed as it was all packed away. People on the next table got arrived after us, got served, fed and given bill all before we had finished our main course. We had to get the waitress attention to get the bill. We as a family don't get to be together a lot and was so looking forward to enjoying a meal together. It was my birthday celebration meal and we have saved up for the special occasion. As a restaurant that is open til late with free unlimited salad this should be readily available at all times til closure or at least inform customers at time of booking what time food is cleared. I am also a mystery shopper and luckily for you this wasn't one of my assignment grading your restaurant. I have been previously to your restaurant and enjoyed the evening, hence why we returned last night. However after the problems we had I am sad to say that unless things improve we will not...
