Lovely place, but cleanliness depends on how busy the restaurant is at the time. Later edit - I visited the restaurant for a b-day lunch, and even though it wasn't too busy, the waiting times from the moment we got in, to the moment we paid our bill wasn't very good. The majority of waiters were fairly young, which I understand, but even though everyone was polite and friendly, we had to wait for everything. At one point, I was searching for our waiter to ask about our drink refill, which was ordered over 20 minutes before. We were given a table by the window, and we could admire the calmness of the river flowing by. It wasn't a sunny day, but it still looked nice. The food is what you would expect from a Beefeater. Both me and my friend ordered surf&turf with medium rare steak. Mine was a little too cooked for my taste, but I didn't say anything because it was edible. I won't waste food just because I'm fussy. We were asked twice if everything was okay with our food during the meal. And to be honest, there was nothing wrong with it. Cleanliness on my last visit was much better than what I've previously seen at this restaurant, and one thing we noticed is that the menus are fairly new, so we could actually look through without having to avoid sticky food stains.

I am not surprised that they have gone down now with 3.6 stars. What a shame? It used to be my favourite place for steaks, burgers, and beer. Not any more! Absolute disaster! Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!! Went there last Sunday, ordered the best burger they serve, and received a cold shoe sole. I have informed the waiter who, without sorry, just took the plate and said he is going to bring me the fresh one. Really? If that one was fresh, then I am King Charles III. Bet it was prepared the day before and now just heated up, as it was warm this time but still no juice at all, very dry, chewy, another sole, not edible. I am very disappointed with the quality of the food and customer services. You gonna get much better quality from the van by B&Q. I am not even going to mention kids' food. Nobody came to ask us if everything is OK, what they used to do before regularly. You have to queue up for ordering from the bar. Staff can't get through as you are standing in the queue, so unorganised place, just chaos and couldn't find happy customer, everyone annoyed. Why can't they have the online ordering? It is so simple, and it works in so many other restaurants (where they care about the customer). After queuing up, they told me I couldn't order from this menu for the offer I received by email, even if it states on email that only T-bone is excluded. So I have received a different menu, and I had to go back to the family to ask what they want from this menu and then queue up again. And then waiting for bloody long time to be served but nothing mentioned whilst ordering. Tables sticky, untidy. Whole area messy. Are they for real? Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!! Who is running this restaurant? Some builders and painters or carpenters are cooking, and as waiters, you have road work contractors? The only last positive thing that remains is a nice location by the river. Shame on you, Beefeater team!!! Next time, I would rather have a pizza at Kent Life and save a lot of money, and keep myself calm as they serve much better food even for their animals than you serving to your customers. Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!! As I mentioned above, you used to be my favourite place, which I recommend it to everyone, and I used to take all my visitors and friends to your place for fantastic food and hospitality. How did you manage to bring that place from the top to the bottom in a few years' time? And please do not use covid as excuses as there are so many other restaurants and they keep their quality no matter what! Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!! I do understand that in current economic climate portions getting smaller and I won't see onion rings included in price for a burger and patty will be as thin so I can nearly see through to be able to keep prices down and compete. But come on, the quality of the food and customer services must stay on top of everything. Otherwise, you can close the business. Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!! Bye-bye, never ever, until I see your stars getting closer to 5 again. Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!!

Have been a few times and had a nice experience. This time was really not great. Card payments not available only cash which is fine they had signs everywhere stating this but I asked someone behind the bar if this just affected the bar or upstairs restaurant too he said everywhere and then told by someone else that upstairs is fine. So conflicting info. Waited over 10-15 mins for someone to even check us in, would have expected someone to be at the check in as it’s bank holiday. We asked for a table near the window if possible, waitress was reluctant but allowed us to move. Service was very very slow. Waiter was quite rude and blunt too, not very welcoming. Food wasn’t amazing but not expecting much. We had started to share cauli popcorn, potato dippers, vegan nachos (which were just vegan cheese slices ontop not melted well at all) and mushrooms. For main meal I got a mushroom bbq tower, the picture looked like the mushrooms were marinated and onto the skewer but this literally was 6/7 mushrooms on a skewer with bbq sauce added ontop after. Wanted to take a look at the dessert menu so went up to the waiter who had menus in his hand and on the desk asked for one he said he will give to us once they’ve cleared our table ? What? Why can’t we take a look now ? We wanted to check if we even wanted one. He comes over 5 mins later clears the table then presents us with a dessert menu which we then said can we just have the bill and card reader. That of course took a while. The location is great and would recommend for a walk or perhaps just drinks outside but wouldn’t bother coming again for poor slow service and not a welcoming face in sight.

UPDATE 2024 May Staff very friendly and attentive, location on a Early summer evening fantastic, food very ordinary. UPDATE 2024 April Service very good, unfortunately the chips were not up to standard. So can not give an extra star. No UPDATE 2023 December. Had to remove a star as the Beefeater beefburgers, which were probably the best I have ever tasted in restaurant have changed. Service was very good and attentive (5stars). House red wine pretty good for the price. UPDATE 2023 October Had a great surprise, they had a guest ale called "Fresh Legs" which was a nice acompanyment to my meal, staff very friendly and they always get the bill right first time, not like another close by Beefeater. UPDATE 2023 April Special discount day (40% off) so very busy, felt the portion sizes where getting smaller, asked for Mayonnaise but it did not arrive, so had to go to the grill bar and ask for some. Staff very friendly and engaging. UPDATE 2023 March Service was very good and engaging, food from the daytime menu was far better than expected for the price. UPDATE 2022 11. Would have increased my star rating to 5 as the restaurant was lovely and warm, the food and service were very good, unfortunately the gent's toilets were a bit smelly. This was a afternoon visit. Well what can you say, this is a very busy place. The staff work extremely hard. We took advantage of the two meals for £12, which is a unbelievable price, unfortunately our chips were cold and dry, these were promptly changed by our waiter. Hopefully our next visit will be perfect and I will add a star or two. Great setting by the river Medway, make sure you log your car in.

Ate here whilst working in the area and first impressions the building seemed quite a nice funky layout. Hadn't ever seen a beefeater over three floors and thought it's quite a quaint different style of restaurant to the norm. Well seeing as though it was just me as a solo diner, I arrived for 7.30, but didn't get served until about 7.45 and didn't recieve my first drink until 8pm. The venue wasn't massively busy with patrons, so couldn't understand why it took almost half an hour to seat and serve a customer a glass of Fanta. I did order it without ice, and it came with ice. Ignoring this I ordered my starter which arrived about 8.15 and was quite nice to be honest, but then went on to the fillet steak to be done blue, yet on arrival there was no juicyness when cut open and judging by the cross marks on the top, it showed it had been cooked longer than I ideally liked. As I had enough, I moved on to the biscoff sundae only to be disappointed with the fact that unlike other beefeater outlets I've been to which scatter biscoff crumbs on top. This had hardly any within. Didn't leave until 9.15 due to the slow service occurring. Overall it isn't one of the best places for this chain I've eaten in over the years, as I've seen staff in other places have their eye on the ball, but felt here it seemed a little sleepy with the approach... I'd say to eat here is worth it if you have a no frills or fancy approach to things, but if familiar with beefeater standards based on what other beefeater outlets do.. Then may be wise to check them out first and then compare notes. Remember to validate parking though.
