Driftwood Coffee & Tapas Bar — Restaurant in Maldon

I've been to Driftwood a few times now but keep forgetting to take photos of the food! The food here is delicious, I've been for lunch (I had churros), vegan tapas (highly recommend!) And regular tapas (also top tier!) The atmosphere and decor are pretty relaxed, got some booth style seating with cusions which i like. Theres also some outdoor seating which is lovely on a sunny day! I'm always shocked how quiet it is in here, we've never had to wait for a table. The staff are friendly and approachable, happy to answer questions, usually with a smile too. Prices are what you'd expect from an independent who do their food on site. E.g. tapas £30pp - you'll be very full up, i think it's very much worth that! Convenient location for parking (Butt lane) and for the high street, but not a very busy walk through. Cute location, however a bit pricey for what they offer. My partner had a sandwich, which was average, I had the lamb kofte, which was disgusting. I noticed people around us leaving the food on their plates as well, and looking very dissatisfied. Long waiting times, although they only had a few outside tables, so not busy at all. In fact, I went to the bar, cancelled the dessert ans asked to pay, as we had been waiting for over 20-30 minutes for someone to pay us some attention although at that point there were only 3 tables with customers, unfortunately the teenagers working there were busy chatting and laughing. I am so incredibly upset that i have to leave this place a bad review. I have been many times as the coffee is great and food is lovely as well as friendly staff. My last visit (probably my 10th) was not so nice. The person who served me (think it was the manager or owner) was moody, short and although I asked twice for the same thing, the order came through wrong. The person mentioned was walking to and fro between the opposite property and seemed stressed. Dear Driftwood cafe, it costs nothing to smile be polite and listen to your customers needs :-) Hopefully others don’t...
