What can I say, a local pub that has returned to how it used to be. The menu had me drawn in, some different dishes to the norm. I made a choice in seconds on seeing Goat Curry - however goat was out, but the offer of mutton was gladly taken. The quality of the food was outstanding, and it takes a lot for me to say that. I eat out, to eat something I can't cook myself or have never tried, and appreciate when it exceeds my own ability.
Theplace really is dog friendly, both adjoining tables had dog, just sad my dog didn't live a few more months to share the experience with me
If you read an old review, based it on my previous review and give them another chance.
Original Review for previous ownership: What can I say about the food - well for the few minutes I looked at it, and smelt it, it had all the potential of being a great meal. But as I had to insist that we leave, because of the dreadful treatment by a member of staff, I never got to taste the food. The tale more in more detail, could be a long read. After entering and finding a table, we waited 20 minutes, before we gave up due to thirst, and got the eye of said member of staff. That should have been the first sign, as it distinctively seemed we had put her out, and it was not a welcoming greeting or apology for the delay (I had noticed her look at our table from the bar three times), but drinks got ordered, as well as food, as we needed no longer to choose, and the message that it will be 30 minutes was relayed to us. Should add, that another member of staff had five times been to the area we sat in, but never once acknowledged us, or asked if we wanted drinks, or were ready to order. Well 50 minutes later, as I am one mouthful from finishing my drink and had decided enough is enough, I will go pay for the drinks and leave, the food arrived. When the waitress left the food, I made a point of mentioning the delay was really not acceptable, and that I had been about to leave as I had finished my pint. You would think this would have prompted the normally response when food is served, of 'anything else I can get you' but no. Then it got better, well worse, the original person to take the order, storms over, immediately aggressive, to which I said again the wait had been excessive, and the lack of updates along the way not helping, I then got accused of raising my voice, which then prompted me to raise my voice. That got a 'I will not be spoken to in that way' what way, that I was not impressed with the service. I stated I was happy to pay for the drinks and leave, if she so wished. That got a 'you will pay for the drink and food, all of it' yelled across the pub as she walked away. Moments later, the manager, who I assume was also the cook came over, he was friendly and apologetic, accepted we wanted to leave, and even refused my offer to pay for the drink. You might think that was the end of it, but no, there is more. The same lady, came back and lied in front of us, that twice she had asked if we had been ready to order. Even if she had, the fifty minutes was from the point the order was taken, so her logic is a good as her customer service. I am sure other events in her day, leading up to this played a part, well I hope so, but the worst experience ever encountered of...
Read moreMy 78 year old mum is having an operation tomorrow and on our way back from her pre-op appointment today we decided to call into the 3 Horseshoes for lunch as we have eaten there on 2previous occasions and thoroughly enjoyed it. On entering there were around 8 or 10 people sitting down, some eating some waiting for their food. We were served with our drinks and ordered our food at the same time. It was 12.50 and we were told to expect a wait of half an hour as they were so busy. Personally I don't think 8 or 10 customers is exactly 'busy' but nevertheless we said that was ok and sat down to wait. Which is exactly what we did....we waited until 1.30 before I went up to the bar to ask where our meals were. The landlady was there but she totally ignored me and the barmaid said it wouldn't be long. I sat down again and waited another 10mins before asking again and pointing out we had now been waiting almost an hour. The girls reply was, "well you have been waiting for 40 minutes actually, and we have been very busy serving 8 meals before yours." This was a lie as we had seen her come out once with 2 meals and then again with a further 2. She went on to argue profusely with us and was downright rude. We went out for lunch, supporting our local pub, and we had our lunchtime totally ruined by a rude, mouthy young lady who clearly needs a few lessons in customer services. At the very least, I expected an apology or at least some acknowledgment that there was some sort of delay. At two minutes to 2 we decided not to wait any longer and I asked to settle our drinks bill as we were leaving. The barmaid then told me we couldn't leave as our food was ready!!! This is not what I was expecting when I asked my mum to come for lunch. She is anxious about her operation tomorrow as it is and we were meant to be going out to relax and to take her mind off it, but instead mum was in tears all the way home. So thanks to you all at The Three Horseshoes for making our lunchtime so memorable, we won't forget it for a long time, and we definitely won't be going back until they change...
Read moreThis pubâs my go-to spot, and Iâm there most days soaking up the good vibes. The staff are like mates at this pointâalways slinging pints with a grin and remembering my order like itâs their job (well, guess it is). The locals are a cracking bunch too, always up for a yarn about bikes, brews, or whateverâs on the telly. Itâs got that proper pub feelâwarm lights, a bar thatâs seen a few stories, and tables perfect for sprawling out with a burger and a beer. Speaking of, the beer lineupâs ace: crisp lagers, hoppy IPAs, and a stout thatâs basically a hug in a glass. Foodâs bang-on pub grubâjuicy burgers, golden fries, and a spicy poutine thatâs my weakness. Portion sizes wonât leave you hungry, thatâs for sure. The real kicker, though? Every Sunday in summer, they host bike meets that bring the place to life. The car park fills up with all sortsâsleek racers, chunky cruisers, you name it. Itâs a proper petrolhead party, with folks swapping tips, showing off their rides, and just vibing. The atmosphereâs electric but still chill, like everyoneâs there to celebrate two-wheeled freedom. Only heads-up: it gets rammed during those Sunday meets, so get in early if you want a seat. Parking can be a faff too, especially with all the bikes rolling in. But honestly, itâs worth it. This pubâs got soul, great grub, and a community that makes every visit a belter. Canât wait for the next...
