Fancy some Middle Eastern food and want to avoid the hustle & bustle of Manchester, pop along to Fayrouz
Tucked away in Wythenshawe, Fayrouz provides Middle Eastern food, in particular Syrian. Even though it’s been opened for a while, we hadn’t come across it till now and upon parking up, we were very much intrigued by this fancy gem. Having visited Fayrouz earlier in the day, it was relatively nice and quiet and have a feeling it’d get busier during the evenings. The music being played was by a Lebanese singer named Fayrouz/ Fairuz and very aptly so considering the restaurant is named after her.
At Yara’s (co-owner/ chef’s wife) recommendation, we ordered the following; •Mouhamara - A red pepper paste topped with walnuts. It was sweet and spicy and provided a yummy dip to accompany the bread •Lsanat (Lamb Tongue!) - Now, we had never tried lamb tongue before and probably would have not been inclined to do so if it hadn’t been described to us so well. Genuinely loved it and would describe it as a slightly saltier meat and possibly a little spongier (but not in a bad way). It was topped with some chilli powder and infused with pistachios that helped to balance the flavour out
And because of the Middle Eastern hospitality of needing to feed more, they also provided us with; •Hummus - Smooth, just the way we like it •Fattoush - Usually it ends up overpowered with balsamic vinegar and parsley, but this wasn’t one of them occasions
The mains for the afternoon were; •Fayrouz Kofta Kebab - If you’re going to put your name against it, we’re likely going to try it. It was a perfectly sized meal, where the halloumi and mushroom was minced with the meat giving it a creamier taste •Dajaj Bel-Fakhara (Chicken) - This was a big portion of chicken baked in a tomato base. Had a vinegar-like tanginess on the peppers providing an extra kick
Then, to finish it off (because we were being ultimate fatties on the day), we had; •Katayef - We were so full, but we couldn’t resist dessert (who can?!). There were two varieties of either cream-filled or nut-filled fried pancakes and topped with a sweet Syrian sauce. The nuts were a sweeter result with the cream version being more mellow. Was maybe a little too heavy for us at the end of that meal
Definitely worth another visit

I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing the culinary excellence of Fayrouz Restaurant when they catered our wedding, and I cannot begin to express how incredible the entire experience was. From start to finish, Chef Rami and his team at Fayrouz delivered an unforgettable Middle Eastern feast that left our guests raving about the food long after the wedding ended.
One of the most significant highlights of our wedding was the food. From the moment the Middle Eastern dishes were served, you could see the amazement and joy on the guests faces. Some even went as far as to say, "we have never eaten and will never eat better food at a wedding again," I couldn't agree more.
What truly set Fayrouz apart was their commitment to delivering food that was not just good, but exceptional. The dishes served were nothing short of spectacular. The Kibbeh was a flavorful delight with its perfectly spiced ground meat and bulgur shell. The Baba Ghanoush was creamy and smoky, the Hummus incredibly smooth and rich, and the Cheese Bourak had a crispy, golden exterior that gave way to a heavenly cheese filling. The Grilled Chicken breast was tender and juicy, and the Lamb chops were succulent and perfectly cooked.
Fayrouz and Chef Rami exceeded all expectations. The food arrived at our tables promptly, and every dish was served at the ideal temperature. As for the price, every penny spent on Fayrouz's catering was worth it and more. The quality and quantity of the food, combined with the exceptional service, made it an outstanding value. We were left with no doubt that we had made the right choice.
If you're planning a traditional Arabic wedding or any event that demands the finest Middle Eastern cuisine, I wholeheartedly recommend Chef Rami and Fayrouz Restaurant. We can't thank them enough for making our special day a success and we would gladly choose them again for any...
Read moreReview of Fayrouz Restaurant – Iftar in Ramadan 2025
My family and I visited Fayrouz Restaurant for Iftar this Ramadan. While the food was decent, the management of the place was disappointing—strict, overly controlling, and surprisingly stingy, despite charging £25 per adult and £15 per child.
One major issue is their definition of a child. Unlike most restaurants, which consider children below 12 years old, Fayrouz only applies the child rate to those under 8. This meant we had to pay full adult prices for our 9- and 10-year-old children—an unreasonable policy.
Beyond pricing, the management heavily controls portion sizes. Even if you take a reasonable amount of food, they ensure you get as little as possible from certain dishes. This wasn’t about diners being wasteful or greedy; it simply felt unfair given the price paid. Even dessert portions were monitored, and if you took slightly more, staff would glare at you.
Another disappointment was drinks. No drinks were included, apart from water, and everything else had to be purchased separately—a questionable practice for an Iftar meal.
Will I Visit Again? Given how management treats customers, controls portions so strictly, and excludes drinks from a Ramadan Iftar, I...
