Nafees Sweet Centre on Cheetham Hill Road Manchester - bought some sweets priced at £9 / kilo, they put it in a cardboard box then put it on the scales to measure out the weight you requested. Guess how much the box weighs on its own? 210 grams! So if you ask for 500 grams, they put it in a box which weighs 210 grams, so you're actually only getting less than 300 grams but paying for 500 grams. I only realised when I got home and weighed the box without the contents! This is misleading and untrustworthy behaviour by Nafees Bakers! Ask them to weigh out the food before they put in the the packaging if you are going to buy from them or ask them to use the small plastic containers rather than the big heavy boxes.
Morally and Islamically (several Hadiths about giving 'full measure') this is bad behaviour - they should be clear on how they price their products. If nearly £2.50 of my £10 is loaded on to the weight of their packaging (which probably only costs them a few pence wholesale) then I call this cheating the customer.
I will look for ways to complain to Manchester Trading standards about this.
UPDATE: Nafees management replied stating all weights are done beforehand or the weight of the box is deducted and provided a link to their Facebook page showing a video of this 😀. Okay, kudos to them for replying but if that is their policy clearly their staff are not following procedures! Maybe a training opportunity perhaps? The staff member clearly put the sweets in the box first. As I had bought a couple of other things I wasn't paying to much attention until I got home - the total weight came to just over what I'd asked for. I noticed the sturdiness of the box at that point and decided to weigh that on its own.
My complaint still stands and I would encourage other potential customers to ensure the sweets are weighed before...
Read moreThis place does not even deserve a 1 in rating, absolutely disgusting food as well as disgusting service. My sisters nikkah was yesterday and we spent 60 pounds on samosas and other items. When I bought the items I have made sure to ask if the samosas were fresh as I have a nikkah and don’t want bad samosas. At the nikkah everyone had complained about the samosas saying it smells of and when I went on to check the filling was slimey. I called the same. Beach this morning who said they will be giving me full refund if I came to them, I also mentioned I don’t want any hassle when I get there. I go in with my sister who just had her nikkah and the guy usman starts ringing his manager and the manager asks to speak with me saying they can’t give a refund until they take back the samosas and for me to fill out complaint form and for them to investigate and get back to me. I told the manager I didn’t have the time to go back home and get the samosas out of the bin which where at the venue as I am heading back to Birmingham today. He said he can’t give refund until the complaint team don’t investigate.
I was absolutely disgusted by the service and having to deal with this. No humanity or remorse, guys please be careful as this is not the first experience I have had with their samosas the nikkah cake was ruined as well because of the writing. I will be making a video on tiktok on other social media platform and the FSA. They deserve to be bought down because it’s customers hard earned money they are taking and don’t have the decency to handle refunds when the products are giving you...
Read moreNafees is an excellent and very well respected bakery outlet unfortunately this outlet on Cheatham Hill Rd in Manchester brings the Nafees brand to shame.
I was served Rabri falooda. The presentation was excellent but unfortunately the contents were substandard. They using wheat (pasta) based noodles in their falooda instead of the proper rice based noodles. Wheat based noodles after a little time soak up the moistue in the container and one is left with a thick falooda that cannot be sucked up by the card/paper based straw. Eventually the straw breaks down because it also absorbs the liquid and the amount of sucking that takes place.
With all good intentions I implore you to take the feedback and improve the product. Otherwise a couple more reviews like this and it's as good as a dead duck.
The service staff were wearing dirty uniforms. I had to ask that they change their uniform if they are going to serve customers food. They cannot serve with dirty clothes. So the staff member changed to some...
