I recently had a deeply disappointing experience at Choupan. As a disabled individual with a service dog, I was refused entry despite providing full proof of my dog's status, including a card compliant with the Equality Act 2010 and her picture. My service dog was also wearing the appropriate harness.
The staff member who refused us cited religious reasons for not allowing my service dog into the restaurant. However, religious grounds or cultural beliefs cannot be used to exclude guide dog and assistance dog owners.
This incident was not only frustrating but also a clear violation of the Equality Act 2010, which mandates that service dogs must be accommodated.
I expected a higher standard of understanding and inclusivity from Choupan and was thoroughly embarrassed to be asked to leave because I’m disabled Discriminating against individuals with disabilities is unacceptable and needs to be addressed immediately.
I urge the management to train their staff on disability rights and to comply with legal obligations to ensure that all customers, regardless of their needs, are treated with respect and dignity. Due to this experience, I will now be looking into how to move forward legally with...
Read moreFood here is nice I have been plenty of times to order for takeout. However every time I drive past I have seen on the building that the opening time is 4.45. So this particular day I decided to take the wife there for meal with our daughter unfortunately the weather was horrendous. I parked the car a five minute walk away as that was as the only parking available. There is parking outside the restaurant on the street but that full. Waiting outside for 15 mins in the pouring rain and my wife checked on Google that it opens at 5.15. So we went to local shop just to get out of the rain. We killed 15 mins of time until opening time, and walked back still there shutters were down . I rang them up and asked what time they opened they said 5 mins . It got to about 5.30 by the time it opened. This is really annoying as it wasn’t only ourselves waiting. When we got in we sat down and ordered our food. Service was decent but not the best. Decor inside is really nice and has a cozy feel to it. I would come again however the opening situation needs to be addressed by owner...
Read moreChoupan Restaurant in Manchester delivers a genuinely authentic Afghan and Persian dining experience. The dishes are rich with traditional flavors, and staples like Qabily Pulao and Lamb Dopiaza really stand out—tender, fragrant, and clearly cooked with care. The homemade naan is soft and warm, perfect for scooping up their smooth hummus or pairing with flavorful stews. The food has a distinct home-cooked quality that’s hard to find elsewhere, and portions are generous without compromising quality.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a traditional décor that adds to the cultural experience. It’s a family-run place, and that comes through in the way it feels—relaxed and familiar. While most diners report friendly service, there are occasional mentions of inconsistency, particularly during busy hours. That said, Choupan remains a reliable spot for Halal food lovers seeking authentic Afghan and Persian cuisine, offering solid value and a satisfying culinary experience overall.
Highly recommending this to desi...
