Ravensdale Hotel — Restaurant in Mansfield

We have been going to the Ravensdale every year for as long as I can remember & have never had an experience as disappointing as this one. Our table was booked at 12.15 for a party of 5 & when we arrived, the staff were still clearing up from the day before, with no tables set. Ok, not a problem. The pub was pretty much empty besides us. We placed our orders & waited about 30-40 minutes for our meals. Fair enough. As soon as we got our meals we noticed something was missing from one of the meals. We had no chilli on the vegan nachos. I went to the bar to inform the lady behind the bar, who told me to inform a younger woman who would sort it. I mentioned it to the other lady who said she would bring some straight out. We continued with our meals & saw the lady bringing out 2 bowls of something & didn't see her go back. 20-25 minutes later we had finished our meals & the original lady from behind the bar came to clear our table. I said that there was no point in bringing the missing chilli out as we had all finished eating & the reply we got was "well, I'm on my own" & she walked off. The way it was said was utterly rude. We had noticed that there was something missing from one of our other meals & another one had garden peas instead of mushy peas, but decided against bothering again after the other never arrived. Less than a minute after she said she was on her own the lady who lives at the pub was there & we also saw the younger lady sat in the bar area eating. She hadn't bothered about the paying customers, who had 3 out of 5 meals wrong, she would rather feed herself. My brother then went to the male toilets & came back with photos of how dirty the gents toilet was, with toilet paper all over the floor & big tubs of cleaning liquid on the floor outside. Being disabled, I went to use the disabled toilet & found mould on top of the taps & a toilet seat that was broken & not attached properly. Luckily I spotted it, but someone else may not be so lucky. There are also photos of that. I have never been to ANY establishment ANYWHERE where the service has been that shambolic, orders haven't been rectified when informed of issues & the staff...

Xmas lunch. We sat down to eat today at 1250 for a 1300 serving. At 1415 the starter arrived. By this point we were getting a little fed up. Yes, I realise it's Xmas day and very busy. But the meal had been booked a long time ago, and you'd think the pub would maybe hire extra staff in to cope with the rush.? In our party we had my mother, 78yrs old and widowed in January, this is her first Xmas meal without my dad..... We also had my father in law, 76..just completed a long course of chemotherapy and taste just returned. The main course arrived. No stuffing on my plate, no sprouts on several, only small things, but when you've paid a fair amount and looked forward to enjoying it.... Not so good. The meal was small, gravy lukewarm. Really not up to scratch by a long way The dessert arrived at 1520. By this point we'd already discussed leaving by 1525. It's a shame our Xmas day was ruined by sitting waiting for what ended up being a very poor meal. We were offered a round of drinks which we declined. Then offered a 20% discount on our next meal(that ain't gonna happen we're never going back!) and given a bottle of prosecco. It's really not about getting discounts or freebies! We wanted it right in the first place and found your levels of service sadly lacking on a...

Booked out the pub for a meal for quite a few people because it was my birthday & what a shambles it turned out to be. When food was ordered the table numbers were not taken so the staff didn't know where some of the food was going. We ended up having an order just placed on the table for someone who wasn't within our gathering. I had to go out and inform the other customers their food was just placed on one of our tables and left there for them to figure out where their meal was.

Can not fault Les & Emma one bit they was really helpful throughout planning and they was really apologetic when I was asked was everything okay and i told them no it wasnt. However some of the other staff seemed quite rude and abrupt. Unfortunately, I won't be making future bookings for large gatherings...
