Not the best tea room / ice-cream parlour I've been in .There's a weird ordering system for ice cream ,queue inside for ten minutes when busy the wait is longer pay inside then go out round the side of the cafe and queue again to be served out of a hatch. Service was slow no one seems to have a set job people tend to meander around or chat whilst I'm waiting for my pots of tea nearly ten minutes no queue. Tables stayed cluttered and covered in food detritus for longer than needed I state again it wasn't that busy. The cost for food is a bit high two cheese stones and two teas nearly 12 quid and didn't ask if we wanted the scones warmed up or is that just me. £3.50 for one scoop of ice cream £4.50 for 2 scoops it works out expensive. All in all not the best they say its %100 profit on ice cream they seems to do well here for profit. Probably won't...
Read moreTwo friends and myself called at the Duck and Teapot 2.00pm on a Friday afternoon. All hot food except 2 helpings of soup sold out. Space inside very tight due to 4/5mothers with prams beside them all taking up al ot of space, and certainly they weren't inclined move the prams to the side wall of the cafe, (I think personally as space was limited the staff should asked them to move the prams to the side they would have come to no harm. But that's down to manners). Menu needs to be made bigger for all day use. Only doing bacon and sausage hot rolls until 11.50 a bit silly, the call is there for it. On the whole for trade that they have, the building does not meet requirements. May be better in the summer when you can sit outside. Not rushing to go again. Very pleased to see that they are dog friendly I find that there are not...
Read moreThis cafe has definitely changed our experience of a trip to Needham Lake and the playground, it’s a great resource used every time we’re in the area. I love the coffees. However, apart from the smoothies, there’s a huge lack of healthy food choices, and unhealthy foods are made even more unhealthy by overloading the filling. My 10 year old was looking forward to a nice roll with a crispy rash of bacon but received a bap filled with three huge, thickly sliced half fried bacon slices with no crunchiness at all. Sadly it landed in the bin. Three of our society’s problems (obesity, food waste, animal farming) seem to be ignored and normalised here. We won’t be going there for breakfast or lunch and will stick to coffee, smoothies and the odd ice lolly. To end my review on an upbeat note: the staff is working really hard and it’s...
