Appalling service and ruined my partnerâs birthday. Having looked at other reviews now, and the extremely poor attitude from The Mill in the responses, we can see why. We had waited over 30 minutes and not even been asked for our drinks order, while the waiter (a young man with long hair) was completely ignoring us trying to get his attention. He decided to serve 4 other tables that had come in after us. After he finally acknowledged us, the other 4 tables already had their food and drinks. When we asked for our Groupon voucher to be refunded, the waiter was very unprofessional, and immediately said âI wonât be shouted atâ even though we were very respectful in how we spoke to him, and definitely not shouting. I can see other reviews also comment on the lack of ability of staff with basic communication skills. The manager couldnât guarantee we would get our money back, but we decided to leave anyway as it was just such an uncomfortable atmosphere. We were then able to get our money back via Groupon, by the restaurant sending an email confirming we hadnât had any food. In the email, they tried to use the excuse that theyâd âchecked the CCTVâ and could see the other tables had come in before us, which was untrue. There were 4 of us there and we all saw the 4 tables of customers come in and sit down after us⊠I fully anticipate that we will get a sarcastic response from the management like in other reviews, instead of any sort of self-reflection / taking...
Read moreWe came for dinner this past Sunday and started with a Potato & Leek soup. The soup was horribly bland, and the ciabatta it was served with was so dry that it crumbled as soon as you bit into it. My Vegetarian 'Wellington' was actually a pasty, and the mash it was served with was so rich I couldn't take more than a few bits. My husband's Roast had some good points. The chicken was good, and the cabbage was lovely. The roast potatoes were rock-hard though, and the Yorkshire was cold. We enjoyed the dessert - an orange drizzle cake with blood orange ice-cream. It was labeled as a parfait, though it was more of a deconstructed parfait. A more accurate description would be cake with ice-cream.
I'm not sure if the kitchen was understaffed or they just didn't have the right ingredients on hand, but overall we were very disappointed. I felt the menu didn't properly reflect the dishes and it would have been easy to correct the poor quality...
Read moreDon't waste your money £40/ person!, had afternoon tea bottomless gin and fizz, 3 single gins each and a poor selection of sandwiches and mini scones etc, was told an hour and half time limit but was told after an hour no more drinks, we had been waiting 20 minutes and the waitress just kept ignoring us! Stay clear of this place as not worth the price tag!! Very rude when we confronted the waitress! Cheaper to buy a couple of bottles from the supermarket with a selection of cakes/ sandwiches and stay in Doors, atmosphere would be better!
Thanks for the reply, no mention of ignorant staff and poor service, feel for the high price tag that could have been better quality! a trip to greggs would of been better!, glad your other customers think its value for money, not sure 3 single gins and half a sandwich with mini scones and Mr kipplings cakes are value for money, better value elsewhere and staff that wish to serve...
