I used to come here for lunch when I worked nearby, the food was always good but the problem was actually getting anything to eat within an hour before I had to be back at work - occasionally I had to ask for a refund because the food was simply taking too long for me to wait. It’s a handy pub right opposite the station with a good sized beer garden, but it’s not at all disabled friendly as there’s steps to get into the pub and that excludes customers like me now. It’s got plenty of seats inside but it does get busy in the evenings but it’s a good place to meet for drinks. On the whole it’s a decent local pub, just they make quite a lot of noise when they have bands etc playing and if you live nearby it can be loud. Also if you are just walking past the entrance you will be covered in cigarette smoke as all the smokers gather outside the entrance and have no manners or respect for anyone trying to use the pavement just to get past to do the daily shop etc. it’s not very nice and as a vulnerable female I always feel quite intimidated to have to walk past the smokers outside the pub as they are usually males who have been drinking, they think it’s hilarious to be loud and intimidating to anyone trying to pass the pub. The pub garden is also right next to the pavement and...
Read moreI've been visiting this place regularly for over a decade mostly for lunchtime and after work drinks and it is a nice place with a nice feel. Staff are usually very friendly and the beer is usually top notch. When it hasn't been it's been replaced with no quibbles. A bit expensive for what it is but I guess part of that is the good location near the station.
It has a huge beer garden which is a sun trap and well worth a visit, it used to be swarming with wasps for years which ruined our experiences but since lockdown they seemed to have sorted that out which is great.
Food is good and reasonably priced, more often than not though they have left allergens in my food that was requested (and confirmed by the staff) to be removed. Not the end of the world as I usually get to keep the extra chips but the burger is inedible for me with dairy and egg on it. It is always replaced with apologies but it genuinely happens ALOT so some diligence here would be hugely appreciated.
Overall well worth a visit with lovely staff and a...
Read moreWasnt overly impressed. Months locked down not working thinking more love and care could have gone into it and it seemed the food was practically flung together no sauce in the hoi sin burger. Portions very small. Staff were lovely though. Google for this location states masks to be worn and staff clean surfaces regularly. Well I understand seating outside but our table could have done with a brush down at least not asking for wet sanitiser but we were eating with children at the table and had a massive ash tray on the table. Really quite disappointed as the family had travelled a distance and I feel I let them down as trying to support the pub left them hungry on their journey home. 3 stars for the staff, the quickness and the fact...
