Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Mid Sussex

Had a few of my sons football training sessions at the Triangle due to bad weather and myself and my severely Peanut allergic daughter fancied a hot chocolate from Costa. I saw there were all young adults working and I instantly worried that it wouldn’t be taken seriously….. how wrong I was to presume that would be the case. I told the guy who served me that my daughter wanted a hot chocolate, yet had a severe peanut allergy and straight away he got the allergy folder out, ensured that it was safe, showed me to check, and carried on to explain that he would make it and clean down the machine prior to making hers. At this stage I was already impressed, he then asked if she wanted a chocolate powder to which she did, yet before putting this on he then got the allergy folder again to check this too. I then went the second week and spoke to a young lady there, she stated that she would check the allergy folder again as they have to incase if any changes in allergens. To say I was impressed was an understatement. My daughter can get very anxious about eating / drinking out as so many places have rolled their eyes at us or told us they can’t guarantee, so therefore they aren’t happy to serve her so this experience really was great for us both as they never once made us feel like we were a problem, even though it was a very busy Saturday morning. I had a cheese and tomato panini which was soggy and devoid of the main ingredients and overwhelmed with pesto. My granddaughter had a strawberry and cream frappe which had whole ice cubes in it and no sprinkles on top. I had a large latte which was good. There seemed to be a lot of staff with very little going on apart from the teenagers running it’s conversations and comments on whichever song was being played. NOBODY cleared any tables or swept the floor for the half hour I was there. It was fairly busy when we sat down but I was taken aback at how filthy this outlet is (see photos), and it was obvious that that a basic, daily cleaning routine isn’t happening. Lots of uncleared tables, food on the floor which looked like it had fallen from several customer’s mouths. I am a regular customer, and I have to say this is the most disgusting Costa coffee shop I have been to....

Dirty tables, rubbish/ food debris around the underneath the tables/chairs. Needs a good scrub and a proper clean, it’s filthy!

Staff just wandering around aimlessly and even got the lifeguards from The Triangle to do the cleaning up! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fridge not working since 19/10/23 and not working on my visit on 24/10/23.

Poor visit and such a shame as it could be a really nice venue inside the Triangle...
