Harbour Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Mid Sussex

I used to think this a very good chippy with a lot of choice and options. Although the choice remains the same, the service seems to have gone rapidly downhill.

In the last few times we've been, the kids cod was larger than the two haddock's we ordered, we had to return a kids sausage because it was so overcooked as to be inedible. A large chips ordered was smaller than a kids chips. And last night, we returned a large chips after finding an extra item in the wrapping when we got home.

When I showed them, the chef simply said "It's a bit of blue roll. Nothing to worry about". My. View is it shouldn't have been there in the first place!

To cap this off, when they have a big online order, they literally down tools and don't serve paying customers in the shop until the online order is complete and sent.

No fault of the chef who tirelessly kept both sides separate to get things cooked in good time. Simply the refusal of the serving staff to do anything but the online order.

Needless to say, I'm now giving Tailors fish bar in the town centre a try. Not as much choice but they seem...

After my previous review I said I would give this place a second chance. This time they lived up to their reputation. Simply superb!

My first post as follows - I booked on line for home delivery. After an hour of waiting I tried to phone to enquire about the delivery but the phone was constantly engaged. So I left my elderly mum and walked to Harbour. Only to find the order had just been dispatched. Mum fell trying to answer the phone re the delivery. Fortunately a neighbour was watching and came to the rescue. Not the Harbour’s fault except that there was an un-communicated delay and no phone contact their end. Fish was good considering it had been left for 10 mins until I got back. Chips - on the plus it was a very huge portion. But cold and mediocre. Mushy peas were still hot and lovely. We did get a full refund so will try again- but not...

Do not believe their website opening hours! They are not open on a Monday. I looked them up on their website which said they were open and drove 7 miles only to find they were closed. Spoke to the manager and pointed out the error on his website and he replied 'We are closed on a Monday, don't use the website use our app', he was not interested in updating and correcting his website, could not be bothered, didn't tell me what app he was refering to and did not apologise! He just turned his back on me and walked away! Total lack of ownership, no sense of manners or customer service an absolute misery. There is no chance I will recommend or ever go back. The 'Forest Roe' down the road in Forest Row is a much better shop, with a very friendly welcoming reception, good service and ...
