We booked a room here at Morley's - And did consider whether it was fair to leave a review, as the room bookings do seem to be managed by another company, but the rooms are booked directly on Morley's Bistro website, and we did visit Morley's Bistro 2 days prior to the stay, and were met with the worst attitude. Staff refused to even show my wife the entry door for the rooms.
As we were checking in outside of their staffed hours (the room was self check in) the company were quite aggressive in making a point that any issues upon check in would be at our risk. Fair enough. But seemed a bit odd that they were so focused on that. Almost like they'd had issues before...
My wife went down to the property a couple days before, to check the procedure etc. The staff at the property were very unhelpful, said it wasn't their job, and refused to show my wife the access to the property.
Luckily it wasn't rocket science, and the door to the rooms was just on the side of the building with clear instructions on how to operate the key pad. 'Pull door towards you, enter code, push door'.
When we arrived, the code didn't work. Surprise surprise. Called the helpline, with no answer. Checked the poor reviews for the property after the fact, and was absolutely rife with people having issues with keypad access. People supplied with wrong codes, keypad malfunctioning etc. Obviously it's not just us then.
Company shrugged, and said it wasn't their issue. So we spent our wedding night wandering around an alleyway, until we eventually just got another expensive taxi ride home.
Rare I leave a bad review, but this definitely earnt it! Would...
Read moreTucked away with a playful charm, Morleys Bistro is a refreshing burst of character in the local dining scene. With its funky interior and relaxed outdoor seating, it’s the kind of place that invites you to settle in and stay awhile.
The vibe? Effortlessly cool. Think chilled music, friendly service, and a menu that hits that sweet spot between comforting classics and inventive specials. The kitchen delivers – from seasonal plates to standouts on the specials board, everything feels well thought-out and well executed.
The cocktail list deserves a nod – balanced, bold, and designed to complement the food. Beer lovers might wish for a broader range (a local cask ale or two would elevate the offering), but what’s there is solid.
📌 Verdict: A neighbourhood gem with real personality. Come for the vibe, stay for the food, and don’t miss the specials.

Read moreEarly evening meal with my grandchildren, daughter and husband. This was 6.30 and they had already run out of one main. We ordered a starter to share which seemed fine but took over half an hour to arrive. The mains were quicker except they forgot my son-in-laws order. They insisted on cooking something which he didn't want them to do but they still brought it and had managed to overcook it. It was a bit chilly in the garden so we had sat under a heater but that wasn't working. They had more people than they could cope with and if the service was bad it was because they were using untrained staff. One of us got food poisoning. This used to be a really good restaurant but has changed hands since I have been and not for the better. It looks smart but this belies the actual reality. Basil Fawlty would have been at home here. Needless to say we won't...
