We recently hired the exclusive use of the Rose and Crown for a large private function, and I really can't recommend them enough! From the start James was flexible and accommodating, giving us lots of options and suggestions for how to make our night special. This included the choices of food and bespoke menu. As myself and partner are both vegetarian we enquired whether it would be possible to keep to a meat free buffet selection, and they really exceeded our expectations! All of our guests were raving about how delicious the food was and what a fantastic selection was out. As soon as one of the food platters started to look low, the staff were immediately returning with it's replacement! The kitchen also accounted and catered for several allergies that we had in the party, they really went above and beyond. The staff behind the bar were friendly, efficient and handled the busier periods of the party very well. They were able to make recommendations for drinks and also join in with the fun, getting out the "shot ski" for when the evening festivities were really getting underway! We were able to have our own live music and a DJ within the venue, which really added to the atmosphere and when the weather let us down at the last minute, James had no concerns with us setting out a marquee in the lovely garden. They also made sure that the beautiful cake that was gifted to us by a friend had its own space to go for the evening, and were able to slice it and lay it out for our guests so we could continue to enjoy the evening knowing it was in safe hands! James and the team, we really can't thank you enough for making out party so fun, delicious, stress free...
Read moreThe initial service at the rose and crown was good. There were maybe 9 tables inside and out when I ordered our food. We sat out front in the sun, After 15 mins from our food being ordered the waiter brought out some fries and wings for the table next to us, for the man that ordered jusy after i did (We ordered wings and halloumi nuggest to start, then burgers. I said we'll have it as it comes) I went and asked the tall skinny man who looked like he had a Colombian cold if the food would be much longer and he said its just coming. 10mins went by and I went in and asked our original server how long the food would be as it's been 45 mins already -he went and asked the kitchen, came back and said 10mins. I said "our order was forgotten wasn't it" he said I think the ticket may have been lost. I liked that he was honest so didn't say anything. 5 mins goes buy and the starters come out, 2 mins later the guy with cold comes out with our 2 burgers. I said "all together then I guess" he then told me I asked for it at the same time. First lie - said the kitchen was busy with 50 orders so it was a longer wait than usual - second lie. We finished the starters and mains which were both very nice. Went in to pay, sickly man gave me the bill - I said "no discount then" he said, you liked the food didn't you?? And proceeded to tell me I put words in his colleagues mouth when I said he said they forgot our order. 3rd lie.
To sum up our first and last visit to the crown. Food was great 👍 service from the young lad was good and honest. Don't get stuck with the guy who looks like he's just rolled in from a...
Read moreMade to feel incredibly uncomfortable.
Having just moved to the village from HH, we were really excited to enjoy a drink and some food at our new local.
Upon arrival the welcome was cold at best.
Asked whether we could start a tab, which was welcomed.
We went back to the bar to order food, only to be told that they would like us to pay upfront. Odd but we went along with it and paid.
Food was delivered, burger was rare but ate it nonetheless, it was okay. Lamb was decent.
One of waitresses (Becky) was very nice and tried very hard but was overshadowed by someone who appeared to be the manager. Who came out on two separate occasions to tell us what we had left to pay for on a tab. Made to feel like we were thieves, I went inside to settle the one round remaining and we left.
Shame… we had intended to spend the early evening there and hopefully...
